1st Question

Hi girls,

New poster here....but I do ALOT of lurking. In fact FH says, oh LIWeddings again, he swears I post but I told him if I did then he would hear me do a lot more typing.

Anyway my ? is about the rehearsal dinner. Our church rehearsal is Thursday. FH's family/friends are all from PA so I don't know who will be here for Thursday since the wedding is Saturday.

I'm planning a dinner for Friday night. We want to include OOT and our families. Obviously this would be expensive if we had it at a place. Our BP is7/7 so already that gets big.

We were thinking of doing the dinner at Country Fair in Medford. They have a picnic ground where you could cater in food....I'm thinking BBQ food since its Memorial Day weekend and I don't want to overdue it. I thought it would be fun bc it has mini golf, go karts, batting cages etc.

The problem is when I emailed them about it and asked my questions the lady wrote back saying that their is no alcohol on the premises b/c once people drink they can't use the gokarts.

Do you think this will be a problem> my family likes to drink, his doesn't but our friends do.

Can anyone think of any other options, like 'bbq' where we can invite a lot of pple and keep the cost down and make it an informal come and go thing.

Thanks so much!

**I can start to feel the crunch these last few days with all the stuff starting at once now that the holidays are gone**

Re: 1st Question

Welcome & congrats!!!

We had a BBQ / picnic for work at Eisenhower park. I'm not sure if we needed a permit- but it was fine for a BBQ... we even had a space to place wiffle ball and set up some beer pong table- LOL. HTH & good luck with your planning!

Re: 1st Question

We are doing a bbq, too. Don't worry about the alcohol.

1. If your wedding is on Sat and RD Fri nite, people will be getting there drink on soon enough. AND if you and FH want to go out with some friends for beer you will actually be able to relax and enjoy it.

2. If there is a day between RD and wedding (like RD Thurs and wedding Sat) you can always plan an after thing for who really wants to have a few.

remember: it is a rehearsal dinner, no one said you had to drink!

Welcome and Congrats!!!!
Post more often!!!

As far as a BBQ goes...
Why not try it at a park... I dont know where you are but South Haven Park in Brookhaven (shirley) is a great place for parties... We used to have them there all the time... Drinking is permitted.. You just have to get a permit through the town which is NOTHING to do... And they have the playground if you are having little kids, along with the field which is great for everyone...
There are so many parks that you could hold it at....
I think having a BBQ is a wonderful idea, especially at a park since it will keep the cost down ALOT!!!!
And you dont have to worry about seating and meeting a minimum!!
Good luck with whatever you do.. Hope I helped a little!!!

Re: 1st Question

Thank you for all your ideas, I will have to weigh out that option w.o alcohol or find a different place and I def appreciate all the suggestions. I feel like I better get planning on this quick.

With 2 locations where our families are, it makes things more complicated as far as who is coming and where we are going and whats going on.

I'll try to post as often as I can and get to know you girls. I have a list of ?'s
