2 questions about e-party

First, we're hosting our own as sort of an e-party/housewarming party at the new house. It will be in philly, but the wedding is on LI, so we were thinking of inviting some people (like co-workers here in philly) to the e-party, but who we don't really intend on inviting to the wedding because it's so far away and that's really just for close friends/family (trying to keep it intimate)... is that ok? Or terribly rude if we don't invite them to the wedding?

Second, we want to put on the invitation something about how we don't want people to feel obligated to bring presents... I read a post somewhere here that had a cute saying... anyone remember?

Honestly, I don't think that is appropriate at all... this has been posted before
it is quite rude
JMO--if someone is invited to an engagement party or gets an STD they should be invited to the wedding
you are celebrating being engaged and people will expect to be invited to the wedding
the only reason i could see if someone was invited to an engagement party and not the wedding would be that you lost touch or are just not close
I hope this doesn't come off snotty... it is not meant to be

I agree that anyone you invite to the e-party should most definitely be invited to the wedding.

I think the phrase you're looking for is 'your presence is present enough'

I don't know if that's the case for us. I mean, I'd say the greater majority of people are, I'm not 100% yet. But for one thing the children who came, ARE NOT COMING.

Etiquette says that anyone invited to the e-party or shower should also be invited to the wedding.
