2004 Brides?!

Ok, I'm getting REALLY sick of people asking me why I'm waiting until May 2004 to get married - truth is, it is no one's business!!! Are any of you 2004 brides getting the same annoying questions???

I am a 2004 Bride and have been in engaged since Feb. Everytime I meet someone that does not know that I am getting married in 2004, when I tell them that I am getting married in 2004 I get the same question. I just either try to blow them off or I tell them nicely that it was easier for us to wait.

I just tell them that it gives me that much more time to make sure its perfect, and if the person is close enough to me, i mention that it gives me twice as long to SAVE $$$$$$$$$$

I have found that people always seem to be asking annoying questions. My FI and I have been together for 6 years so before we got engaged people kept asking when are you getting engaged. now that we are engaged everyone asks when are you getting married. we haven't officially set a date yet but we have a time frame in mind (april 04). so far no one has given us a hard time about the date being too far away. Personally, I don't really think that april or may of 2004 is that far away. Everyone always seems to be giving me their opinions about how/where/when I should have my wedding and for a while I was REALLY annoyed by it. I'm trying to not let people's comments or questions get to me anymore. It is going to be MY wedding and I will enjoy it!!

Yes, I get the same thing! It is annoying but it's like you said none of their business. Sometimes I tell them that if they would like to give me the money to do it sooner than I will.

Everyone that says that 2004 is so far away is wrong. 2004 is not that far away. Think about it, in about 7 weeks or so it is going to be 2003. So really 2004 is not that far. I have 22 months until my wedding (9/18/04) and it does not seem that far away. I guess it does not seem that far away since I have already booked all my vendors and if I had a dress I could get married tomorrow.

Don't let people annoy you with it. Tell them if they want to pay for the reception you would be glad to move it up hee hee hee

It will be here before you know it. Once it is '03 you won't hear the shock as much.

OMG YES IT IS SOOOO ANNOYING!!!! People keep asking us why we are waiting so long. But if you think about it 2004 is right around the corner. We just got engaged in July and I never thought that people could be so rude! We are waiting until '04 bc I am still in school and I think that finishing school, finding a job, a house, and planning a wedding in a year is too much. But i don't let it take the smile away from my face.

I just got engaged three weeks ago and we set a date for november 6, 2004. I HATE HATE HATE it when people give me a face-and say 2 years?! Like some of the other girls said 'Are they going to give us the money to have it sooner?' I am only 21 (will 22 in Nov.) & my finace' just turned 22. We need two years to advance in our careers and to really really save so we are not flat broke and living in a cardboard box after the wedding!! Time flies! Our days will be here before we know it!! We'll all have to stick together!! HA!

We are getting married in 2004 and I am so sick and tired of people, I have had people make such comments as... you are not getting any older... (I am 31) you better start having a baby right after the wedding! Or why so long! I gave up trying to explain it and say a wedding cost a lot of money . Why is it there business anyway! It really is not that far off, people have nerve and I am so sick and tired also of people , they would not like it , and it is a personal question, they would not like it if we asked them personal questions !

Well we have been engaged for 6 months already but we only just set a date - April 24, 2004. Well although almost everyone asked why we were waiting so long. - My father says - hmmmm 'don't you want to wait another year or so?' (for my FH to graduate from law school - we will be 28 and 29 when we get married)

Jess2: I'm getting married on May 16th 2004 too Wow, you're the first person I've 'met' that is getting married on the same day as me!!!

I also hate when people ask me why we're waiting so long. I just don't let it bother me anymore, because only my FH and I know what is best for us. And waiting is it. We're not waiting because we're unsure, we're waiting because I'm in my last year of law school, I don't want to plan a wedding while studying for the Bar exam and we want to save $$.

I hate it too when people say Why so long? or Wow, you have so much time! We are waiting b/c my FH is overseas in the Army so we have to wait for him to come home.
I also can't stand when I tell people what I have done so far as far as planning or what I plan to do and they say, 'isn't it a little early?' That really annoys me. 2004 is not THAT far away and time flies!!

Yes,it's very annoying when people ask that. It not even that far away, when you think about it money wise ! It takes some time to put it all together ! ! Don't people realize that ?

I get looks when I say 2004...I just ignore it or sometimes I will say the wedding is 15 months away which really isn't far. It's annoying but I figure someone always has something to say!!

I get the same thing, not just from friends and family but even vendors! 2004, that a long ways away. Not exactly! Its barely a year and half! I know exactly how you feel!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I just don't feel like explaining to people that we need to save money, and even when I've said that people have actually said to me 'oh please, you don't need a bigger wedding.' Then I actually had a neighbor say to me, 'how old will you be? You know what they say about the biological clock and all...' It truly is amazing what people will say when it has NOTHING to do with them. I just really needed to vent, and I just want to thank you all for being there for me as I do that!!!!
