Water's Edge is also pretty close to the city...although rather pricey...

Re: 2005 Brides.....
Yes, I know...it is pretty pricey and I'm a 'Budget Bride' I also looked into some places in Westchester which is closer to me, but, in the end, they were totally more expensive and offered less than most halls in LI, so I decided to stick to LI. I feel badly that most of our family will have to go from LI to Manhattan back to LI, but, hey, I've done it for plenty of people in the past. My FMIL thinks we should look into NJ, but I think its the same thing.

if you consider traffic then NJ will be the same...stick with what you like. Hopefully Leonards is perfect!

Re: 2005 Brides.....
GIRLS I need some help. We had set the date for Jan 7 2005 I was rather upset that I had to wait that long but with school and finances we had no choice since we want a big wedding. His brother just got engaged and they are getting married 2004 I am kind of upset that we cant do it next year. I think Im just jealous! Anyway now I want an afternoon wedding in June next year since that we can afford. Am I being silly by changing my plnas of a big wedding to a small afternoon wedding just so we can do things faster?

You should go shop around for prices. Sometimes the difference between a day and night are not that much, especially on an off day or month. Dont give up your dream of a big wedding if thats what you really want. I know how you feel not wanting to wait so long, I will have a 2 year engagement by the time I am married, plus I live in NY and he lives in PA. I have thought many times about just having a small wedding in the Fall of 03 so we can be together sooner, but I know I would have regretted not having the big wedding I always wanted. Now the wedding is a year away, and I cant believe its coming that fast. Just think about it before you make a final decision. Good luck!

Re: 2005 Brides.....
Our total engagement will be two and a half years, and we are waiting for all the same reasons. We really fell inlove with the Bourne Mansion, and had we gotten married sooner, we would not have the money for a wedding there. I said, big deal we wait. In the whole scheme of things, we'll be together that extra year regardless and it was important to us to have the wedding we always wanted, so we decided on 05. Maybe sit down with FH and figure out what is most important to the two of you for your big day. If one of the top things is a big wedding and the other is a wedding in 04, then I say look around at cheaper venues. Imagin is right though about prices, they are not always that much cheaper for an afternoon wedding. Maybe look at a holiday that falls on like a Friday and get married that Thursday night? Or something like that. Good luck and let us know if you need anymore help!

Re: 2005 Brides.....
My total engagement will be just shy of 2 years. We originally booked for Jan 2004 and when we changed because we decided I should finish school...I was extremely upset. But, I thought it out, and the extra time really did give me more time to think the details of the wedding out and make our wedding unique which is really important to me. You will love either way you have your wedding, but dont give up so easily on your dream wedding, especially if it just for a 6 month difference in time. Time really does go quickly when you are planning and focussing and details. If you need anymore help feel free to ask!

I went to the Harrison House yesturday for Feb 2005, Sat. night. She quoted me at 135 ++. Its really nice but expensive for that time of year. Creasent Beach Club quoted me 95++ for a Fri. night.
