Our wedding date is April 2, 2006. We are having it at East Wind Caterers in Wading River. We have the Church, reception site, DJ, and will likely book the florist this week.
We also plan to look at limo companies and photographers/videographers in November.
I too am a bit anal retentive, so I like to have as much done as soon as possible. Plus we have an idea of the vendors we want to look at and don't want to take a chance of them getting booked. Many still have open dates, but there have been a few that have bookings in 2006, and not that far from our date... so we're not taking any chances.
Congrats to all the 2006 brides

Re: 2006 Brides!!!
Everyone keeps telling me I don't need to have it preserved, just keep it in the garment bag away from sunlight and it will be good... The shop also said to wrap it in a towel in the bag... A cleaners in my area, said they could preserve the gown for $50, that's why I thought it would be a good idea. Yeah and the shop does not hold the dresses, I got it from David's Bridal and I had to put the order in now since they do not take partial payments for dresses... It sucks but it will work out right...

Re: 2006 Brides!!!
Hey girls !
My date is 6/10/06.
We have our hall booked (BYC). Met with our priest and signed up for precana and focus. Met with potential Florist and photographer but haven't officially booked yet. I had a limo in mind but thye really disappointed me at a friend's wedding so I probably won't use them now. Have picked out potential : Dress BM Dress
Countless things still to do - now that all the 'fun' stuff is over. Cant wait for 2006 board !!!

What are you doing with your dress, is your shopping storing it until your date or are you doing something else. I would like to know since I am in the same boat.

Jill, you are too cute!
I was wondering other people's reasons for waiting over a year to get married. Everyone teases us for our 18 month engagement, but I think it's perfect! We needed to pick a time of year that wasn't baseball season for him (he works for the YES network) and was a teacher holiday for me. Plus, his sister is getting married in March '05.
What's making you ladies wait until '06?

Re: 2006 Brides!!!
We are paying for this ourselves plus FH & I want to purchase a home before getting married...We can't see paying rent if we don't have to...So, we decided 2006 & by then hopefully we will be all settled into a house!
I can't get over the 2006 list! I was just showing my mom the list & she could not believe how many there are...I remember when it was just JP&EP & I on here! We felt like lost souls! Once 2004 is over, we must opted for that board & make an official 2006 board!

Re: 2006 Brides!!!
Hey everyone!
I'm just checking in to let you know that I will be changing my hall. Nothing bad at the Inn at all, we are just re-thinking the distance for our OOT guests. We have a just a couple more places to look before making a final decision.
To answer wintergirl06's question...I'm a transplanted 2005 bride due to FFIL having surgery and then us not knowing what the recovery/therapy outcome would be and to add insult to injury, my FH got laid off from his job so money was sort of tight as well. So the best thing to do was to push it back. Which is fine with me I thought I would be the only 2006 bride for awhile, but this list is growing fast!
Happy Planning All!

I try We are waiting until 2006 b/c I had always told FH (before we were engaged) that I wanted 2 yrs to plan so I coul dhave the wedding I always dreamed of. He is so good in not standing in my way on things, well, except the limo. He hasn't budged on that, he is against getting a limo. He says 'Let everyone get there on their own' UGH! I have time to work on it. That'll be one of the least expensive things, seeing as I only want 1 car for us all! Oh, and we're paying for this all on our own! Need time to save $$.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ That is the main reason we are waiting until then. we also want to buy a house as well we cannot see paying rent when we could own something. My mother keeps asking me 'why not feb of this year?' Ugh! then i ask her where her money tree is. LOL

We are in the same situation with $$$$$. We are paying for this wedding ourselves and I rather have the time to save and have it all then to rush and not. We had been engaged about 6/7 months before we booked. It seems like it is far away but as we all know time flies and before you know it, Its the day! Im happy to see so many 06 's and look forward on getting our OWN board and chatting w/everyone.

That's fine. I was going to do that, but just as I started it, my boss gave me a project that needed to be completed asap.
It bugged me too that it was not in date order...I suffer from AR syndrome too -Jill
