the fh and i are also waiting till 2006 because of the money $ituation. we both got better jobs so we wanted to go and get ahead a little bit. i am going to book my hall tomorrow. jericho terrace here we come. 4/8/06.

What's making us wait is definitely $$$$$$$$$$$$$! we're so 'po' we can't even afford the 'or'. Neither of us wants to wait, but we're paying for it ourselves so we have no choice.
unfortunately, this gives his family plenty of time to make me miserable by insisting on a frajillion guests, all greek music, and a bridal party with a population the size of Rhode Island. oh and to think every vendor i have interest in is no good, becuase they didn't recommend it.
Oh boy...I am glad my In-laws are not like that! We actually told both families that we were paying for this wedding & we did not mind the input but the minute they 'insisted' on something, we would turn our backs & not listen....I know it is harsh, but we felt like we are the ones paying all the $$, we are the ones entitled to get what we want....Both families have been really good...
I even brought my mom to Floral Terrace last night & she was so happy & excited on what we have done so far all by ourselves!

Dave and I are waiting because we also would like to buy a house first, and we are paying for the wedding ourselves ... AND my younger sister is getting married May '05.. So money is REALLY tight right now.. We have picked a hall though, but I'm not going to tell until we put money down, hopefully tonight... I'm soo excited!!!! We have waited 7 years, what's another 2!!!!

Like many of you girls we are waiting for $$$ reasons as well. We're counting on paying for it ourselves mostly and whatever our families contribute will be a gift. It'll be tough since its basically just FI's income and whatever I can contribute from loan money from school. Oh and I also wanted to wait until I finished med school which will be a month before we are married. 2006 will be a big year! Congrats to all the new '06 brides. Glad to see we have some more company around here!

Hi all,
I'm getting married in 2006. We're checking out places for April or August (the cooler months. ) :) Haven't booked my hall yet. So far, Thatched Cottage is the top runner. I'm looking at some more places this weekend. I have to get a move on it. You girls are so ahead of me. :)

We also waited because we of $$$, we are paying for it ourselves and planning from Florida, so its much easier having extra time. We have been together 6 years so like gina674 said, whats another 2 years.

I hear ya. That's one of the reasons for making it 2006. Also, I'm really bad when it comes to planning and need all the time I can get. I've been engaged since May and still haven't booked a damn hall. :)

Yes, we've been together 6 years come this November. And everyone thinks that because of that I'd want to get married right away. But, what's another 2 years when you know you're going to marry that person. :) Plus, none of these people have offered to plan this thing out for me. hehe
I picked April 30, because it will allow me to get the lower April rate, while still closer to May so not AS COLD. Plus we want to do an Alaskan cruise so it's going to be a bit cold there in April. :)

Mydate is actually June 4, 2006 and I'm waiting, because I need time to plan the perfect wedding and plus my cousin is getting married Aug of next year...... and yes I get teased about my date also, but who cares, I'm not into rushing..

last year i move to florida with my fh and his mother. we moved back to new york because we missed our friends and it was so hard to plan stuff from florida for new york but were moving back right after our wedding. im moving to tampa. its a beautiful area.

MrsKitty1274 -- I am in the Orlando area. Its pretty cool (besides all the hurricanes this year ), very different from NY, but we do miss NY. All of my family and the majority of FH family is in NY so its hard. Planning is rough too, but this website helps tremendously with narrowing down vendors and getting ideas. I can't wait till we get our own board then I know it will be getting close.
