Re: 2006 Brides!!!
Well, I did a lot last March and April. I really wanted to get a head start on booking, lock in this years rates and get things out of the way.
Plus I hate to do anything in the heat so I booked all the big stuff before the summer!
So far I booked hall, DJ, florist, photo and video. I am working on the Church now.
I have also bought tons of stuff...let's see if I can remember it all: ring pillow, sign in book and pen, FH's band, std magnets and cards, unity candles and candelabra, garters, wedding rice and pouches for the rice, programs, paper for menus, baskets for programs and rice, toasting champagne glasses w/ engraving, knife and server set, an easel and frame for the placecard table, tool/bunting for decorating my house, tippnig envelopes...and I think that is is so far!!
I said I was anal retentive!!!
Good luck all!

Well, my mom keep reminding me that although I am an 06 bride, I am getting married the first week of 06 and with all the holidays and last minute stuff I can't really count 06 as planning time. So I try to look at it like we are getting married the end of 05. Whatever, I just wish it was here already!!!

Re: 2006 Brides!!!
whats up monkey? when we booked th echurch, our priest wanted to meet w/us, but every church is different. since you are in '06, he may take the date over the phone and ask you to call him to schedule a meeting closer to the wedding, you know. i know that the church prefers that you meet w/them first, but if you go to your hall 1st and book that, i can't see where it would be a problem. good luck!

Good morning 06ers! Fh and I are speaking to a priest this weekend. What do you have to do to set a date with a church? Is it better to get the church booked first and THEN the hall? do you put a deposit on the church too? any input is greatly appreciated!
Well, many people have opinions about this but my feeling was that it was important for us to book the hall first. NOT because the party is more important than the actual ceremony AT ALL but because a few churches I was looking into won't even book a date until about a year before and halls book up much quicker than that. We also needed to book the hall first and early to give us a realistic view of how much the whole thing would cost! Once we knew what we were paying per head and how many people we had to gaurantee it was easy to set up a budget and really show us what we needed to save and by when!
Good luck!

I just Booked the church on Tuesday and they did it right over the phone. But then they said I should call again closer to the wedding, like the beginning of 2006. I nearly fell off the coach laughing when they said that., But at least I have two things done!!!

As your A.R. twin ,I too plan on doing as much of the 'small' stuff starting ASAP. Like bridal party gifts, FG basket, etc, etc. I figure the more I can get out of the way $$ wise, the better. Also, I plan on making a lot of stuff myself, so the time will serve me good! -Jill

Thats funny! Can you imagine I almost forgot about the church!! I had booked the hall and then I realized a week later...I need to call my church! I called my friend who was like, HELLO....call! Lucky for me the date is available and I will eventually meet w/our deacon to set up pre caner(which wont be for a bit). I was told the church dosent want to hear that you booked a place before speaking to them so I played it cool.

So far I've booked allof my vendors except flowers and makeup. I plan on booking the florist in November.
The other items I have are: favors, STD's, place card frames, tiara(s), slip, wedding day jewelry, unity candles and candelabra, wrapping paper and ribbon for favors, sign in picture board w/names and 8x10 engagement photo, cake topper, cake servers, gifts for flower girl, rose petal cones, toasting flutes, outdoor house decorations, fans, and program baskets.
I think thats it for now.

Re: 2006 Brides!!!
Hi '06 Brides! Congrats & Happy Planning!
I have to admit, I've been a silent reader, but am just so excited that I wanted to share the great news that WE BOOKED OUR HALL!!! - - It's at the Jericho Terrace on 04/28/06. Wheww, I feel like a lot has been lifted (My FI told me I was turning into bridezilla-I'm a bit picky). So far, I have the Hall & the Church (as of yesterday lol)
We went to so many places on LI and I just 'felt it' at JT. Any comments on Jericho Terrace would be greatly appreciated!! I see a couple of us 'JT' brides in here!! I really do love it there. We have the Garden room for CH and the Penthouse for Recep. We walked out feeling that we got a great deal - - so we were both happy!!
