Hi ladies! I hope you have room for one more bride....we went to book our summer 2010 wedding and came back with a summer 09 one. So, I'm excited and frantic at the same time. I'm a little behind on - just about everything and hope you don't mind all the questions I'll be asking.
Here's the first one - I am going dress shopping today - how long are your dresses taking to come in? I am being told 6-8 months AGHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I don't have that much time

Congrats on your wedding and welcome to the boards!!!!! Ask all the questions you need!!!!
As for your dress, talk to your store, they should give the designer a date much earlier than your wedding and hopefully you should get it in time, if they have to rush it than there may be a fee but at least you know you'll have your dress in time

As far as dresses, where are you planning to look? Places like david's bridal and RK bridal get the dresses in much quicker than Kleinfelds or the Wedding Salon of Manhasset. Also, have you thought about maybe buying the sample gown? you would have it asap, they fix anything wrong with it, clean it and it will be yours within days.
I would say to get the dresses first, everything else will fall into place.

They can take that long . I went to the Wedding Center IN commack and it took a good 4 months. If you go to like davids bridal the dress you try on it the dress you take . That might be something you should look into ...And congrats on your new date and welcome ....

It depends on the company. Ask before you order, some companies take 10 months. So I would be sure to ask. But hey many brides plan weddings in 3 months, so I am sure you can do it.
Also a lot of the BM dresses are ordering out to May right now, so I wouldn't wait to long on that either.

as for dresses.. i ordered mine in oct and its not supposed to come in until april..so yes some places take longer than others.. it also depends if they have to make the dress especially for you (mine takes so long bc they have to do hollow to hem) if you go to davids bridal they have all different sizes ready so its a much shorter time to get your dress in

i think you should try RK Bridal i feel like they dont take as long and they have awesome prices i should also mention i ordered my dress in sep and they said it will arrive in feb

When I went to get my dress they told me about 5 months, but it was in after three and a half. It might depends on the designer though, some seem to come in faster than others.

I got my dress at Bridal Garden in NYC. All the dresses are couture dresses that have been donated and when you purchase it, the money goes to a charity for children's education and single mothers. :) But - the good news is you leave with the dress the day-of. I'd look into this because there isn't a lot of time for you to order a dress, and I wouldn't want you to be stressed. :)
And then you can even start your fittings ASAP.
FM for details if you need. I had the best experience there and got a beautiful Judd Waddell gown.

As for the dress... it all depends. I know my Alred Angelo dress from Fantasia only took about 3 or 4 months... so you may want to check them out... GL!!

CONGRATS! THat is so exciting! When you getting married?? My dress is taking 7 months! Depends on the designer. def search around and I am sure you can find a designer that will take less then that ..GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY PLANNING! SO EXCITING

Congrats!!! Don't stress, It will get done. My FH and I just have invites left to buy and its only been a month since we got engaged. Don't stress just take 1 day at a time.

I ordered my dress from RK bridal in August (not sure of the date) and I had it Mid- Oct. So it took about a month and a half to two months for them. Good prices there too....

Look for BM dresses right away too... I ordered mine Thanksgiving weekend... they say they should be in like mid-Feb.... So those took longer than my dress!

my designer for my dress was Allure Exclusive the bm dress was Impressions Bridal
The designer might affect how long it takes. So I would try and find out which ones come in more quickly and check those out first.
