Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
There's no way my wedding would have been even a shadow of what it was without LIWeddings! I found every important vendor though this site, even our photographers who are now great friends of ours! I also managed to meet some amazing women who I know will be in my life forever.
Witout LIWeddings my wedding AND my life would not have been the same!!

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
My only major Vendors found through LIW was my Photographer and Videographer. AND THANK GOD. If it werent for LIW I never would have known what a shady person my original photographer was. If it werent for some random person telling me about how he was on the news it never would have started the ball rolling toward me actually getting rid of him and hiring the amazing LoveMore & Couped Up.
Special thanks to Barbtony for calling me and repeating verbatim the news story (since it was only an Long Island channel)
And like Ilana, I wouldnt have half the amazing women in my life that I do now...

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
Without LIW, as most other girls here, my wedding would definately have not been the same but I could honestly say that without lIW, I think I would be at my wedding dressless! With 3 months to my wedding date, i decided I didnt like my dress and needed a new one asaP. My LIW girls helped me SO much trying to find a place that would have a sample for me to buy and of course I found my dress all the way in Centereach- 2 hours from home..but nevertheless, I had a dress thanks to LIW and I will never forget the support and love I got during that crazy time! you LIW
And- Shauna actually came with me to try on my old dress when i didnt want to go alone and really was there for me...plus she waited for me while I got lost for 45 minutes trying to find where her job was. God Bless her soul Shauna

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
LIW was such a big part of my life for so long with so many good memories. Without this site I wouldnt have found my awesome makeup artist (divine artistry) who at the last minute was able to also do my hair for me because I waited too long and couldnt find someone who wasnt booked to come to me. Thanks Donna- I love you!
I also wouldnt have had a name plaque (dont know if we can say her name) that I absolutely love.
TWOTY- I was lucky enough to be able to go to 2 of them and had an amazing time with a group of amazing people. And of course- the girls! I have made so many friends on this site that still are there for a word of encouragement or advice. I love you all!!

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
The absolute best part of LIW is the people ... everyone here is insanely nice (well, maybe not on 'popcorn' posts) and helpful!
My favorite moment is, of course, TWOTY 2011. We had such an amazing time as the BM & GM and wouldn't trade it for anything!
Without LIW, i'd be a thousand times more productive at work, but i'd be pretty miserable. My wedding would have been very simple and without many personal touches and I'd probably be in prison since I wouldn't be able to vent about the in-laws.

Without LIW, I wouldnt have gone to TWOTY and won an awesome DOC, Ryan from Above and Beyond. And without Ryan, I probably would have passed out in my wedding because my dress was so tight (thank you, seamstress from Pronovias, for telling me that EVERY BRIDE loses weight before her wedding, even though I told you I was on a new medication that was making me gain weight.)
So there I was, missing cocktail hour, in my bridal undies and my awesome hair and NOTHING else, sitting on the top of the toilet bowl in my bridal suite while my darling MOH and Ryan ripped, tugged, unsewed, and finally yanked all the boning out of that godforsaken dress so that I could enjoy the rest of my night! (yes, Ryan actually had a seam ripper in her bag of tricks!)
Thank you Ryan and thank you LIW!!!!!!

My wedding would not have been anything at all what is what like without this site!! I dont know how I would have done it without LIW!!!!!!!!
Seriously.
I found CLM from this site. I found Thomas Paul from this site who I love and who gave us such beautiful pictures that we will have for a lifetime.
I found Oksana from this site who made me feel more beautiful than I ever felt in my life!
I found Jenerations through this site and had an awesome experience and more pictures that will last a lifetime :)

All the ideas and advice from the girls really made my wedding perfect. I couldnt have done it without this board and the lovely ladies on here :)

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
To be honest, I didn't find this site til after I was married, and after seeing all thats on here, I was pretty annoyed that it took me that long to find it! I had noooo clue about such things as *channa plaques* or here comes the bride signs, or your 'something blue..' I could go on forever. Although I did get married in 2010, I am still on here, and still hooked. I make sure to tell alll my engaged friends to go on this site..I love to help people out on here, and although I would NEVER take back my perfect wedding, I love telling people about LIW to help make their day even more perfect than they imagined!! So thank you!

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
I have a few favorite LIW memories! I was a lurker until later in my wedding planning process, when I started to chat more with everyone and I couldn't have been happier to come out of my shell!! Being more active on LIW led me to Jenn the Hair Genie, Lola Loves Makeup, our Groom's cake, uplighting (MY FAV!!), flip flop baskets, channa plaques and day-after brunch!
But even more than that, I had the pleasure of doing B-PICS with Lauren and Jeanmarie this year The Perfect Newlwed Gift with the infamous Jenerations!
Thanks so much LIW for creating such am amazing space to make wedding dreams come true

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
without this site, i would have never found the church where we got married!! as a native Brooklyn girl, picking a reception hall in long island and finding a church nearby was a difficult task. we had elderly family attending, and we were concerned about the commute between a church in brooklyn and driving out (with traffic) to long island.
after calling numerous churches to be told that we needed to be parishioners, we were desperate. at that point, i was already lurking and decided to take the leap and post on the boards. one of my first posts was asking for help in finding a church.
with all the thoughtful responses, we were led to St Rose of Lima in Massapequa. Fr. Lachlan was soooo welcoming and I am so happy that we found him and SROL.
From that point on, I was hooked to LIW. All the girls were so nice and I really got amazing feedback and recommendations -- from reception halls to djs, etc.
This site definitely helped with planning the wedding, and the G2Gs made for some fun memories.
Go 2010 brides!!

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
This site was a huge part of my life- SINCE 2008!!
I found my Photographer, Videographer, Florist, and Makeup Artist through LIW. Without LIW I would have never had a DOC (and we needed one!). I would never have thought of photosharing cards or slipper baskets.
I had the opportunity to attend 2 TWOTYs (09 and 10) as a guest and one of my best memories- I was a BM in TWOTY 2011! I had the time of my life at every event.
And of course, if it weren't for LIW, my husbands I wouldn't have found some of the wonderful friends we have made these past few years!
Thank you for all the memories!

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
I could probably write a book on all of the ways that being a part of LIW throughout my planning helped to make my event the amazing unforgettable night that it was...
but I'd have to say all of the DIY ideas, and items that were recommended or suggested by other brides or through sponsored vendors on here...I did SO much DIY and incorporated sooooooo many unique touches that came from ideas on here that I would have NEVER thought of otherwise...
The 2010 G2G's were great memories...and of course, TWOTY 2010 was awesome!!!!!!
Thank you LIW!

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
I was a bit of a lurker too for the beginning part of planning but then got the guts up to post more often and even made it to a G2G!
A few of my favorite memories...
Doing bpics for a first anniversary present with two LOVELY ladies (Jeanmarie and Lindsay).
My dad had surgery back in January and the LIW girls were incredibly supporting...even when I didn't know most of them. Heather even offered to bring me Chick Fil A as I waited for him to get out of surgery. All I could do was cry when I tried to explain to DH of all the nice words the LIW girls had for me.
Sad to see this board closed down but I'll always think back and smile

I lurked for months before actually participating in any LIW discussions... and from that first post - I was HOOKED!
With out LIW - I never would have found my Photographer! And I wouldn't have known about picnik.com to do my table numbers.. I got so many ideas from the other brides!!

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
Without LIW, I wouldn’t have even THOUGHT of having a DOC. I even balked when I first heard people mentioning them! Then I started reading numerous posts about how helpful they were and how much of an asset they can be. I kept reading horror stories about other brides not having people there to help them day of and I kept thinking, “Well, that just can’t happen to me!”
I hired friends/fellow LIW-ers/now LIW vendor and I was given a really good rate because their company was still new. I never would have gotten a rate like that if it wasn't for LIW.
These girls went above and beyond for me – driving back and forth from the hotel, church and RH, fixing escort cards, yelling at crazy Greeks and jerky groomsmen, tipping vendors and most importantly, keeping a drink in my hand because my nerves were shot that day. They also switched me from cranberry and vodka to sprite and vodka. DUH white dress + clumsy Becca = not so good.
Thank you LIW for convincing me to hire DOCs. Besides marrying my husband, it was the smartest decision I could have made for my wedding day.

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
I had most of my wedding planned before I found LIWeddings but questions were always to be asked and everyone was so helpful.
I would say the best thing I got out of LIW is the support group. My family and friends were less them helpful planning our wedding and the last thing they wanted to do was help with anything I needed up with or even talk about. LIW was a bunch of girls (later friends) who never got tired of talking about colors or dresses or FMIL and always gave an honest opinion! I can honestly say I HATED my engagement until I found the girls on LIW!

Without LIW, I would've never had all of the little details-slipper basket, bubbles, Channa plaque, etc. I also would've never found some of my amazing vendors: Infinite Video, to name my absolute favorite.

Re: 2010 Thanks for the memories contest!
oh man where do you start? LIW was my wedding! i learned SO much info from this site...from how to handle vendors, how to negotiate, proper etiquette when it comes to wedding related topics, how to make my wedding really stand out, etc. If i hadnt found this site, i would have had a boring run of th emill wedding. This site really helped me explore my creative side and allowed my wedding to really showcase me and dh as a couple. and as much money as it saved me, it also cost me
as for my favorite memory...i think it would be TWOTY and all the showcases/events that i went to where CS was present. I love that Ron and his staff are very involved with the girls on this site to the point where you guys recognize us all and remember us. I think thats really cool and it def keeps me coming back to both this site and LIF
