2013 Bridal Shower

Original post by Eunified

UPDATE: VOTING IS DONE. Thanks ladies!

Hey Ladies!

Back in January, we began to figure out how we would plan the bridal shower.
Kat & I are heading the committee and we have a few brides who already volunteered to help.
We're trying to figure out the best date for all of the brides!
Please vote above on which weekend works best for you.
Also, if you have a restaurant recommendation, post one below.

Here is some info on how the actual bridal shower works (taken from Mara017, the bride who organized the 2012 shower): 'In the past we have all been given secret brides and you are given information about their registry and you buy something it. There would be a limit of something like $25. The 2011 girls made a cookbook so if we like that idea I would have someone on the committee to organize that. In the past, they have gotten donations from vendors (gift Certificates, items, etc) and did a raffle. You can have everyone get a certain amount of tickets for coming and if you want you can purchase more and the money would be given to a charity.

We'll have a poll in the upcoming week regarding location and also I'll be posting a letter for anyone to send to vendors who may want to donate.

***Last Day to Vote is August 1st***

Can someone tell me what this is?

It's a bridal shower planned by 2013 brides for 2013 brides. We rent a location, each person gives a certain amount of $$$. We eat, drink, exchange gifts, & win prizes!

Oh, are we allowed to bring someone? Is it ladies only? Thank you!

It is for us 2013 brides only.

Also, if we decide to use the place I can get in Sayville, we can all cook trays of food, either at the place or separately and pitch in, get some sturnos and trays, and it will alleviate the cost a bit on everyone, since we will be buying presents as well.

Just trying to be cost effective, we are saving for our wedding AND a house, so money is tight, which I am sure a lot of you ladies are in the same boat.

Let me know :) If some of you ladies want to take a ride there and see it we can also do that. xoxoxo

Depending on how many people we can always go back to Cooper Street. I just went to a shower at Orlando's in Commack and it was great! I'm trying to think Western Suffolk since we are all so spread apart.

My baby shower was at Orlandos in Commack and it was wonderful! A sit down lunch with 3 or 4 courses...such good food and my moms aid it was very affordable!

Is this in the day or night?

I think to make it fair we should probably look into places that are in western suffolk or eastern nassau since we'll have people from Queens to Farmingville invited

Hey Eunice..

I had mentioned a few months ago when we were talking about this, I have a venue we can use in Sayville that I am pretty sure will be FREE, its a veterans hall type of place, has a full kitchen downstairs in it, comes with tables and chairs, we would just need to decorate and whatever. We could have full use of it for the entire day..just need to plan ahead...Let me know if you want to do this option...its on main street in sayville :)

I think this is a great AFFORDABLE idea for all of us. Even if we don't want to cook and decide to have it catered instead, it would still be a huge price difference. I think we should definitely look into this.

If it helps, for anyone who is commuting from farther nassau or the city, I would be more than happy to have you meet at my place in dix hills and/or pick you up from the farmingdale train station and drive you over to the place in sayville

I'd be up for cooking and or baking. Sayville is a bit far for me since I'm in floral park, but I'd be ok with taking a train to somewhere someone can pick me up. Allows me to drink more any way since I can walk to the train from my apartment lol

I've looked into catering options and it seems like it would actually be cheaper to go to a restaurant.

That's great if we can find something less than catering! I'm in either way. Although, depending on how big the place in sayville is, we may even have more room to accommodate more girls versus a restaurant private room and a DJ/music if that is what we are planning with Kristen. Just a thought

I hear what you're saying, you just have to keep in mind its not just the cost of catering because now you have to add in table linens, plates, cups, soda, etc. That get kinda pricey.

This! Either way, we will look at all options when figuring out pricing!

It is very hard to do a pot luck simply because it is depending on people coming and if somebody doesn't come we are down a plate etc. I have been collecting places for my rehearsal dinner and there are quite a few places that j have found for a Sunday afternoon at around $25 a plate. I think it would be nice to stay in western suffolk or eastern Nassau. for our ladies traveling in from the city sayville is more then 2 trains.

My dad is a knight in the farming dale council, I know that they have a room and cater as well. We can look into that option as well if people are more comfortable w a vfw or koc hall.

Looks like we have a lot of hwk to do!!
