2013 Bridal Shower

Original post by Eunified

UPDATE: VOTING IS DONE. Thanks ladies!

Hey Ladies!

Back in January, we began to figure out how we would plan the bridal shower.
Kat & I are heading the committee and we have a few brides who already volunteered to help.
We're trying to figure out the best date for all of the brides!
Please vote above on which weekend works best for you.
Also, if you have a restaurant recommendation, post one below.

Here is some info on how the actual bridal shower works (taken from Mara017, the bride who organized the 2012 shower): 'In the past we have all been given secret brides and you are given information about their registry and you buy something it. There would be a limit of something like $25. The 2011 girls made a cookbook so if we like that idea I would have someone on the committee to organize that. In the past, they have gotten donations from vendors (gift Certificates, items, etc) and did a raffle. You can have everyone get a certain amount of tickets for coming and if you want you can purchase more and the money would be given to a charity.

We'll have a poll in the upcoming week regarding location and also I'll be posting a letter for anyone to send to vendors who may want to donate.

***Last Day to Vote is August 1st***

For me personally, I'd rather stay on Long Island.

no matter where we all do it, someone is going to be 'far' from the location because we are all from different counties and areas lol..

With doing it in Sayville, we don't need to necessarily do a pot luck, there is a full kitchen there, if we have a couple of people willing to help cook the morning of, we can do a BJ's run together, buy the food which won't cost that much, and cook at the hall together. Then we can just tally up how much the food was and have everyone throw in like 5 bucks for that. Then we can ask a few people here and there to bring a appetizer or a dessert. Same thing with drinks, I can't see people spending more then 10-15 dollars on whatever they decide to bring or give in. If we have enough girls it will be cheap, just have to make sure everyone is going to come.

I am open to having it anywhere just figured it might be a bit cheaper. The room fits 100 people so we can have everyone. It comes with tables and chairs as well.

2012er crashing.. I am the one that planned the 2012 Bridal Shower. I would not recommend doing it pot luck. People change their mind and if they do then you are missing whatever they were suppose to bring. I am not saying that you should not do it in a VFW Hall but if you are, I would collect the total money needed to purchase all of the food and have a group of people cook at the VFW Hall. When it comes down to it I think you are going to find that it is not cheaper to have it at a VFW Hall when you have to bring all of the food and drink in.

For our Bridal Shower it was $35 a person. That included a 3 course meal, champagne punch, soda, coffee and the money that I collected for decorations and supplies for the candy station and chinese auction that I did.

Just the two sense of the person who planned the 2012 shower

Just an FYI, there's already a group of girls that are planning the Bridal shower and they are from all over so all of your concerns will be addressed. They will find the best place for the best price. I have full confidence they will do a great job planning
