i'm talking to photogs this weekend, and i'm just wondering how many people got or are getting the 2nd photog. is it worth it to have the extra person? it seems kind of expensive.
ETA: i went to meet with a photographer today, and they have a 2nd photog included in the 2 most expensive packages. however, she said we would only have the extra person from 4-7 (1 person w/ me from 3 through the end of the ceremony/pics, and the other with the guys from about 4 until 11ish). Is that normal--just 1 photographer @ the reception with a package that includes 2?

if u want a candid 'photojournalistic' style absolutely. My photographer gave us two automatically 'cause thats just what they do...he put it to us this way: 'While i'm taking posed pictures, ur second photographer is snapping candids & zooming in taking journalistic images..think of everything u'd miss if it was just me posing u & snapping candids while i could.'...now, there ARE some amazing photographers who only work alone & do a fabulous job...but i'm really happy we got two u get great shots from two different perspectives

We have 2 photographers. One is a regular photographer and one is a photojournalist. I like that I will get both types of pictures. My cousin only had 1..she wished she had a pj. My brother only had a pj, he wished he had a regular photographer. IMO it's worth it. HTH

We absolutely wanted 2 photographers, I dont think its necessary but we wanted to make sure if one didnt catch something the other one did.

I will be having two as well. Photojournalistic photog for the first five hours and other photog for the entire night.

it is very expensive... but I think it is worth it. If really allows them to get good coverage. Think of it like this, if one slacks for a second the other one can pick it up. Kind of like insurance!

We got the second photog, to get a 'different view' than the main. Also we are having a rather large wedding, 300+ people.

we are having a 2nd photographer because it is included in our package, a lot of photographers offer packages with 2nd photographers instead of you opting to add one for extra $$

We are having a 2nd photographer as well. I look at it this way- of all things to splurge on- photos are definitely worth it. In the end, other than your own memory, all you have is your photos to mark the occasion. JMO

I am torn on this too, but one of hte photographers I met with said not to get a 2nd photographer unless the wedding is over 300, but I like the idea of 2 photographers to get all of the shots

I'm only having between 75-100 people and iam having 2 photographers. It was included in my package so I didnt have to worry about spending more money.

We're only having 1 photographer. Our photographer recommends a 2nd if there are more than 250 guests.
We're totally not worried about the candids...our photographer is good at doing that.
Every photographer will show you an album of their best work, so you may want to ask to see all the proofs from a recent wedding to see if you liek their work...you may want to ask to see the work from a 1-photographer wedding, and also from a 2-photographer wedding to see the difference.

A lot of photographers offer packages that have a second photographer shooting. I have to say though...I LOVED the pictures that our 2nd photographer shot. The photojournalist style captured moments that were so much more natural than the posed pictures.
