We all would not be here is we weren't in love with our fiances and vice versa. What would you do if your family firmly disapproved of your boyfriend/fiance and told you that you had to choose between your family or the love of your life... Who would you choose?
(If you don't think this is a fair question let me know and I'll change it.....)
hmm tough question, I think it probably would have caused such a problem in the very beginning of the relationship that we never would have lasted long enough to get engaged.

yea i agree.....i'm very tight with my parents and everything they have always told me is always right, so if they disapproved in the beginning i think i would have distanced myself from FH.

Well.... I was engaged once before to a guys my parents thought was completely wrong for me. He wasn't a bad guy, it just wouldn't have worked out had we even made it down the aisle.... But when I called off the engagement 9 months prior to the wedding that was when they decided to tell me that they were SO GLAD I made that decision because they didn't want me to marry him...
UMMMM HELLLOOOOOO???? Was anyone going to say anything or were they just going to watch that one crash and burn???? They claimed that they 'knew me' and knew I would call it off before I actually married him... BUT WHAT IF I HADN'T????
So to answer your question, my parents apparently would keep their mouths shut if they didn't approve of my fiance so I would never have to worry about this!!!! LOL!!!!
Although I'm about 110% positive they're as much in love with FH as I am... but maybe I should double check... hmmmmm....

Well my parents HATED my ex, but it didn't stop me from seeing him. I was with him for 2 1/2 years before I woke up and saw for myself the same things they saw.
Honestly, I think it'd be the same way with FH. Now in reality, my parents actually LOVE FH. But if they didn't, I wouldn't not see him just because of him. Sure it would strain our relationship, and mine with my parents, but I'm also that stubborn that often times when they tell me not to do something, I do it anyway just to prove them wrong. But if they had a legitimate reason not to like him, I'm sure with time I'd come around to my senses (as my dad would say, lol).

I am a stubborn beast when it comes to stuff like that. I would not leave FH if my family hated him. Also, I kinda feel like if they asked me to choose between them and FH, that would be so incredibly unfair... idk, if they gave me an ultimatium like that I'd choose FH out of principle! like i said - i'm super stubborn!!

our families dont approve that i'm catholic & he's baptist. his mom thinks its a big problem - but we're working it out... if it was more of a problem i don't know how we would deal with it though...

Interesting question...
When FH an I first started dating, no one in my family approved but I knew that if they would just get to know him, they would love him the same way I do...And now they do!!!

Hmm, that's a tough question. Knowing my FH now and how much I love him, I can't imagine not seeing him because of my parents. I can't imagine not having in my life now, so if they didn't like him for some reason, I would still be with him. Unless there was something they found out about him that I didn't know, that he lied to me about, etc. I'm close to my family, but if they made me choose, I wouldn't think that's fair and would probably just be mad at them for forcing me to choose.

AS ALWAYS...........I would choose to live my life as I see fit. Peoples opinions of who I love or choose to associate with are just that......OPINIONS! Which in my opinion should be kept QUITE!

this is a good point. but id also NEED to understand from my parents why they didnt like him....i would hate to pass on someone i thought was good and never understand why without giving him a chance either. ya kno
personally, i only introduced the good guys to my parents after we were serious. so at that point, i think i already screened them. i would probably be surprised if they didnt like anyone i liked.

i am very stubborn and i would never be able to make a decision like that. unless they had some strong evidence showing me that he was not good for me i wouldn't leave him.

Neither of my parents would ever tell me that they didnt like my significant other, unless he was physically abusive... my mom has said that shes seen parents not talk to their children because of who they were dating and things like that, and she would never do that....

I think I would tried to fight it for a while but if my family continued to hate him I think eventually I would have seen the light and dropped the hated Y chromosome. thankfully my fam loves FH
