<3 QOTD Tuesday 4.6.10 <3

This is not wedding related, but has been on my mind and I figured that I would ask everybody else about this!

Have you and fh ever thought about relocating to another state? If so, where?

We have, especially during these tough economic times we wonder if we would be better off living somewhere it is more affordable and somewhere you can get more for your money. We have thought of areas in VA, NC, and MD. No matter what we would have to live outside a city, especially coming from NY. Too rural would be a bad idea, we like to be active. I feel like it would be really hard though, especially leaving my family and my mom is like my best friend. Who knows, maybe the family would end up moving near us if we went!

Yes, we considered MA (Berkshires and Boston area) b/c I love just love MA. CO b/c we both fell in love with the Rockies, the active lifestyle and clean air. We also really love Lake Tahoe for the same reasons- so close to so many things.

His family lives in So. FL, so it was mentioned, but we don't like the humidity so its pretty much out of the question.

We def have. We thought about FL, PA, or VA. Those are places were both our jobs are. I have a 3 year old sister (21 year difference between us) and I can't miss her grow up. FH is really close to his family also. We were like who are we kidding? We aren't going anywhere. Plus, with the housing market being the way it is, we are hoping to find a house right after the wedding.

we were very close to moving to MD about 6 years ago. i applied to law schools there and he applied to phd programs there. well, he wound up at stonybrook (which is where he'll finish the program when we have the money for it) and then got called for NCPD. i wound up at st johns. and here we is.

But when it comes down to it.. a) we can't sell our house in this market b) job market would be worse for him elsewhere c) our families

we were thinking of Florida at one point. But I cant be that far from my family- so we decided against it

everytime we go away we plan on moving there in our heads but nothing serious. Although with the prices on long island idk it may be more of a reality someday.

Yes.

And no.

I'm always up for something, anything different. I've pitched the idea to him about moving down to Florida, to the Carolinas, and especially Seattle.

Problem is, I work for Broadway and he works in international shipping...so I'd need to be near a thriving theatre community and he'd need to be near a major international shipping port....which can only mean one thing.

No, thanks. Actually, just...no.

We also thought seriously for awhile about moving up to Canada, which is an idea that we revisit now and then.

But I'm often reminded of why I heart NY(C) so much...there is nowhere on the planet like it. You can literally do anything at any time of the day and find cohorts to do it with.

So we're staying put for now.

Yes, we are thinking about relocating to Georgia or maybe Florida. Honestly, I am not the biggest fan of New York (please don't shoot).

No, we haven't really thought about it. We like living in Long Island and his whole family is here and all of our friends.

FH and I have talked about moving to Arizona, but I told him I wouldn't do it anytime soon.

We definately talk about it....originally we thought about the carolinas he already lived there before and has friends there but he said it takes forever to get places...then we vacationed to aruba and decided we want to move there its still on our minds but I doubt we will

We talked about it and did!!! FH husband and I live in Fort lauderdale, FL now. And for anyone seriously thinking about moving... it has it's ups and its downs just like anything.

Ups...the weather or course and since the housing market is where it is houses down here are pretty affordable. (Not that FH and I are even close to buying a house yet...)

Downs... it's so hard to meet friends that are not work related! Especially in South Florida. Also, it is tough to be away from close friends and family especially during the holidays. BUT it does force FH and I to be a lot closer because it's just us.

Every other day FH mentions moving some place other then here. Some days its Canada, other days its Australia. He is a little crazy.
But in all seriousness, the furthest we are going to go is Upstate, NY. We will definettly eventually be moving there, we just had no idea when.

yes we have thought about and about 4 years ago I almost moved down to MD. He was going to follow. But then decided to stay because all of our family is here and my mom is all alone so I also wanted to make sure someone was here to take care/help her!

I actually just thought about this yesterday since FH is having a hard time finding a full time teaching position.

I don't think we would relocate cause all of our family is in NY. We have a few cousins in other states but we're not that close with them.. The furthest we would relocate is probably eastern Suffolk (we're in Nassau right by Queens).

Yes - we almost moved down to FL (Tampa). FH can live anywhere in the country and keep his job, while my company has a large office down there and I was looking to get transferred. We have a bunch of friends down there and wanted to try moving away, as houses and rent is so much cheaper. In the end, we decided not to go (which I am now so happy about), and FH proposed instead after we decided to stay in NY!
