4 wks pregnant & Drs seem skeptical!

Hi all I am new here! My husband and I just found out we are 4 weeks pregnant and the Drs keep stressing how early on it is and almost seem like they want to tell me not to get too excited! Has anyone else experianced this? He told me if anything happens I should concider myself lucky becaus I got pregnant after 2 months.

First and foremost - CONGRATULATIONS!

Secondly....of course every pregnancy goes through a certain 'risky' period. The first trimester can be a roller coaster ride of emotions when it comes to whether or not everything is okay. It is too early for the doctors to know for sure. However, I think that your doctor sounds a little 'rough around the edges' when it comes to advice/patient counseling and bedside manner. JMO, and I'm certainly not trying to offend....the comments just seem as though they are being delivered in the wrong way.

It is usual for a doctor to offer some cautious words to a newly pregnant woman, but to say that you should 'consider yourself lucky' does nothing to put your mind at ease OR send you home focusing on how to take proper care of yourself and your developing pregnancy!

If you are really put off by this doctor, you might want to consider looking for a new OB ASAP. However, if you are comfortable at the practice and inherently trust the care of this doctor, than I suppose you could stay put for the duration of your pregnancy and hope that his bedside manner improves....maybe he was just having a bad day.

Congratulations!! Here's to a happy and healthy 9 months!!

My dr. also cautioned me (gently) about spreading the news too early, but we did tell our families at the 6 week mark when we knew for sure we were!! You have to do what you feel comfortable with! Congrats again!!
