4th of July Wedding 2010

I am tossing with the idea of getting married on SUNDAY, July 4th, 2010. People will have Monday off but is it rude to have your wedding on this date since it's independence day?

Also, how does having a holiday day wedding affect pricing? If anyone knows... please help!

Thanks

My friend went to a wedding on July 4th and it didn't seem to bother her. I think you should be able to get a great price.

i think its fine. i would just send out a save the date 6 months in advance so everyone could make it

the pricing should be cheaper, and if that's what you want to do then go for it. I would send out save the dates bc thats a busy weekend for many.

i think its perfectly fine! just make sure you send out Save the dates so that people don't make other plans for that day

I'm having mine on memorial day monday, so i don't think the holiday thing is a big deal, provided you do the save the dates waaaay in advance (i'd say probably about a year, since people sometime make plans early for holidays). As for the pricing, it depends...some RH's i talked to said holiday sundays would be priced the same as regular sundays, some said they would be more expensive than a regular sunday but cheaper than a sat, and others said it was as expensive as a sat, so it's really a mixed bag. I know we got a great price for our day, so as long as you check out a bunch of different places, you should be able to find a great deal. Good luck!

my friend is getting married next 4th of july. the ceremony is going to be on the beach and then towards the end of the reception there are going to be fireworks... so it all sounds really awesome. except i just found out that it doesnt look like anyone is allowed to bring a date (even if we're in the wedding party). and that really upsets me bc I really want to spend my holiday with my fiance. i understand weddings are expensive... but i am sad to have to go to a wedding without him. :(

I wanted to have a 4th of July or Memorial Day wedding but FH said it was rude. I think it can go either way!

Yeah that is a little ridiculous. Especially for a holiday wedding.

I don't think its rude. In terms of pricing when I was looking at the sunday before columbus day all the places gave me a sat nite price since its a holiday weekend.

well that is wrong for one reason. Its one thing to not invite a single person with a guest or someone not in a serious relationship. BUt if someone is engaged then that is rude not to invite the fiance/fiancee, i would be very upset if someone invited me without Dh even when we were engaged or if he was invited without me.

I am having my wedding on the 3rd of July and ive heard different things from different people. I had one person get upset because that means they are going to miss marching in the 4th of July parade and Ive had others think it was a great idea.

BTW when we looked at halls, no one was willing to give us a discount for booking either the 3rd or the 4th.

No discounts?? that sxcks! i know they do for memorial day

Actually why would people have all the 5th? Usually you only get off on the 4th.

Depends on the RH. My friend is getting married Mem Day weekend, Sat night and its the same price as any other Saturday.

Mine is the Fri night of LDW and its $10 less than any other Friday.

But that actually wasn't why I picked it, I figured if I was doing a Friday that that was the one to do--people are either off or get out early that day anyway :)

Re: 4th of July Wedding 2010

If you get married on the 4th of July you just have to keep in mind that your wedding anniversary will always be on the 4th of July. This means if you would like to get away, remember everything will be more expensive and everything will be crowded. If you have kids in the future and you need babysitters for your anniversary night you might have a problem getting them.

Also know that some of your guests WILL COMPLAIN...you have to evaluate how important this is to you.

And I would like to comment on the w/guest situation, if you have it on a Holiday weekend, then I say you really should invite with a guest. Asking someone to give up their holiday weekend for you and then telling them they can't bring a guest is just not right in my book.
