I am tossing with the idea of getting married on SUNDAY, July 4th, 2010. People will have Monday off but is it rude to have your wedding on this date since it's independence day?
Also, how does having a holiday day wedding affect pricing? If anyone knows... please help!
Thanks

Re: 4th of July Wedding 2010
I went to my cousins wedding a few years back at the west sayville country club on 4th of duly. We had a great time, fun way to spend the day. There wasn't a discount for the Holiday though. As long as you send out std early like the other ladies said, you should have a good turn out.

my friend is getting married next 4th of july. the ceremony is going to be on the beach and then towards the end of the reception there are going to be fireworks... so it all sounds really awesome. except i just found out that it doesnt look like anyone is allowed to bring a date (even if we're in the wedding party). and that really upsets me bc I really want to spend my holiday with my fiance. i understand weddings are expensive... but i am sad to have to go to a wedding without him. :(
W T F! I could see if you weren't dating someone than no dates, but you're engaged to be married. It's not a date...that's basically your husband. I can't imagine he wouldn't be invited. As a bride, would she want to go to a wedding without her FH? I doubt it!

Re: 4th of July Wedding 2010
My wedding date is July 4, 2009. Some places I looked at discounted the date, some didn't. I didn't pick the date, I picked the place and that was the date they had available.
As I told people about the date, most were excited because they had the long weekend. They were happy that I gave them a lot of advance notice so they could plan appropriately. I would give more than 6 months notice, probably closer to 9. Some people have the same type of plans every year, so if you give them more notice, then they can adjust easier.
Besides...the people that care about you and love you will do everything they can to come regardless. I think it would be different if you were referring to a religious holiday like Christmas or Hanukkah.
Good luck!

My wedding is the day after the 4th of July of '09. I got a really good price, I have sent out my magnets well in advance and I don't have to worry about people rushing to work. If that is the date you want then go for it. People who really care for you will come no matter what day you choose. You can incorporate a lot of 4th of July themes around your enagement party or rehearsal dinner. Enjoy! You'll be fine.
