Question... My wedding as of now is five hours. One hour cocktail, four hour party. In my opinion, I am only going to enjoy the reception, I probably won't be a part of the cocktail hour. Do you think I should pay extra to add on an extra hour?

i agree...i would say it depends on what time your reception is already scheduled to end..if its really late then guests might not stay.

Re: 5 hour or 6 hour
My wedding are the same hours. Ceremony 630-7pm CH 7-8 reception 8-12am
i inquired about extending and they told me i definitely could extend but most do not .
i just had my sisters wedding and it was from 7-1am and we were exhausted! It was too long.
i am taking pictures before my ceremony so i am able to enjoy all of our wedding!!

Depends on what time and day the wedding is on. Also if your guest will stay to the end.

Re: 5 hour or 6 hour
I think people expect your wedding to be 1 hr CH + 4 hrs for the reception. I think most people will start to leave towards the 4th hour, making your 5th hour of a reception fairly empty. And therefore, not worth the extra money.

Also not only is there the cost of the RH but the added hr of the DJ and if you want the photog to stay....is that extra hr really worth the $$$

Re: 5 hour or 6 hour
Our RH only does 6 hour weddings, so cost wasn't really an issue for us. I was a little stressed about guests leaving before it was over, but my mother pointed out that the people we want to stay (close family and friends) will stay until the end. We chose to extend our cocktail hour (well...now hour and a half) because we know that our families are often late to things and didn't want them to miss out.
I would crunch the numbers and see if you think it is financially worth it to add the extra hour to things like dj, photog, video etc. as well as the RH.

Re: 5 hour or 6 hour
Our cocktail hour is from 7-8, then reception from 8-12. We are adding the extra hr from 12-1. It is definitely quite a bit more money to add it on, but I think it's definitely worth it. I am sure it will be close friends and family left which I am fine with, it will be nice to get to wind down the night with the people who are closest to us.
