Question... My wedding as of now is five hours. One hour cocktail, four hour party. In my opinion, I am only going to enjoy the reception, I probably won't be a part of the cocktail hour. Do you think I should pay extra to add on an extra hour?

I think 5 hours is plenty - have you considered attending the CH?

I think 5 hours is fine. Spend the money on your honeymoon!
I agree with you... ItalGal..
Spend the money on the HM.. 5 hours are enough.. and you will be worn out by the late hours..

I would do the 5 hour and consider an after party. A lot of people leave after the cake cutting anyway and most people are used to a 5 hour reception.

I got an extra hour...I for the amount of money we're paying on EVERYTHING, I agree that I want it to last as long as possible, any extra minute seems worth it to me! Thats another reason I wanted the ceremony at a separate location, it gives us time in between to enjoy our bridal party and family and being married before the party starts! Every second counts...I'll prob fall asleep in my dress!

Re: 5 hour or 6 hour
As much as I think that it's going to go by all too quickly, we're keeping ours at 5 hours...we have a saturday night, but we opted for the late start to get the 'nicer' room, so CH is 7:30-8:30, reception 8:30-12:30...and we have a lot of elderly and children, so to go till 1:30 would definitely have been too much. And as it is, I get cranky past like 8:00 LOL, so it will definitely be past my bedtime.

We added the extra hour to our wedding...its a sat night and I think people will stay
I don't think that most guest will want to stay that long that is just my opinion though...

We added the extra hour (dessert hour--desert was not served on the dance floor though--served in huge area right by reception room). The dj played the entire hour (fast music)....no one left that dance floor til the end of the night.

Re: 5 hour or 6 hour
you should there's never enough time for anything by the time you're done with the 'must do' things, such as toasts, etc, you won't have any time to enjoy yourself. mine was beyond 7 hours, and it didn't feel like it was too long

When do you plan on taking pics? Before your ceremony? We missed our CH bc we were taking pics. Our BP got in there for a little bit. We put on the extra hour and the night flew by. I definitely recommend it.
