Re: ~*~*~*5/7 QOTD*~*~*~

FH and I are both teachers, and we didn't want to put off our honeymoon, so we opted for the summer. We wanted to go in July so that we could take a long honeymoon and not have to worry about rushing to get back to school. We didn't want 4th of July weekend, and I just liked the idea of 7/10/10...so that's what we picked!

I chose the 25th, b/c the 18th was booked at my RH.
But I do like the date 9-25-10 because......

9+2+5+10 = 26 (which is how old FH and I will be when we get hitched!)

I originally wanted an october/fall wedding.. but one of my FH's cousins already has that date for 2010..

we originally wanted 4/10/10 bc a lot of firsts happened on the 10th of some month.. when we first met, asked me to be his gf, he proposed to me on the 11th (but he was close lolol).. the 10th was booked.. so we went for the end of may.. no real significance.. but it soon will be!!

I had originally wanted a September wedding, but my best friend (whom I'm the MOH for) is getting married in September. Tradition says that we can't attend each other's weddings if they're within one month of each other... so i had to push back to November. But prices were much better in November anyway, so it worked out for us.

Well I actually always wanted to get married either on our anniversary or close to it, but it would cost more for a June wedding so we decided on a Spring wedding instead. We knew we wanted April and that it had to be after Easter, so we narrowed it down to the last 2 Saturdays in April.

We went to the hall and they had April 24, 2010 open and my FMIL was complaining that if we didn't book right away we would lose the date. I was never committed to the date, but she just kept going on and on about losing the date and having to wait for another available Saturday. I didn't want to book the first hall we saw, but she just wouldn't stop saying we should book. So my mom and I finally said, fine we'll book it.

Nothing really special about choosing our wedding date.

I def wanted a cooler weather month (bec of my migraines) so we looked at a bunch of dates in oct, nov and dec...I also counted out my BC for the next 2.5 years to avoid that situation... so oct 30th just seemed like the right fit for us...we both love even numbers and 10-30 ..i dunno...i love it...i cant wait!!

we chose our date for a few reasons

1. we will both be off the week after the wedding so we can go on our hm right away
2. Money Money and More Money!!
3. I am always looking for an excuse to get out of NY during the winter.
4. That year valentines day is a Sunday with a holiday the next day so many of our guest will have off
5. I sweat like a beast and the thought of wearing a wedding gown in the summer frightened me!!!

I am obsessed with it raining on our wedding day so I did all this research into weather patterns, and found out that October is the driest month of the year in New York. I love the fall so that made it great for us! We knew we wanted early October because my birthday is at the end of October and I didn't want the two dates close.

Also, we had to have it at the end of 2010 for $$$ reasons. I originally wanted it on Valentine's Day, it was my dream since I was little.

My dream date was 10/10/10 but it was booked in all of the halls we liked So we settled with 10/9/10... FH loves it because he says 'nothing's perfect' but I feel like it's second best, the ******* child, etc. etc. But I have grown to love it!!!!!!!!!

I have always wanted to get married in October. for as long as i can remember. Then when we started looking at dates all the saturday nights in october were friends/relatives anniversaries except for 10/16/10. OBVI the place we fell in love with did not have that date available. So we had to decide who we wanted to share a date with.

We picked the 23rd b/c his brother and wife got married on 10/23 6 years ago. They are MOH and BM. my parents anniversary is 10/22 so we decided that there is a lot of great Karma on that weekend.

We always knew that we wanted a spring/summer wedding. We both love the summer and could never imagine it any other way. We got engaged in August and didn't start planning until Sept/Oct. and I knew I could never be ready in 2009, plus everything was pretty much booked already. So, 2010 would give us so many more options. At first, I was looking at May thinking we would be past the rainy season (not that you can ever predict weather). With May, its FH's b-day, Mother's Day, then Memorial Day Weekend. So, we headed into June. It's also my b-day the 3rd week in June, so we decided that the first Sat would be the best day for us. That's how we ended up with June 5th!

Plus, for us we knew that we had to get married at the hall, so we thought how perfect would it be to get married and have an outside ceremony. We just hope that the sun is shining for us!

We picked our day because it was a three day weekend (Monday is presidents day). We got lucky that it is Valentines Day which makes it extra special!!

I wanted a date that I could remember. I have a horrible memory and I thought it would be funny to have one of those dates that everyone remembers too. So...about 6 months before FH proposed, I went through my phone calendar and tried to figure out dates. I came up with 10/10/10, 9/10/11 and 12/11/10. I settled on 12/11/10 because it sounded the best and saved it in my phone as 'my wedding day' even though the others were still in the running...
Then he proposed and I told him the dates...FH said 9/10 was too close to the 10th anniversary of 9/11, so that was out... 10/10/10 and 12/11/10 were in the running...Then I decided I wanted snow globes as favors and I started dreaming of a winter wonderland wedding...that sold me. Plus, FH can tell everyone it's the countdown to the end of his life MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA

We wanted to get married on a '9'...so that really limited our options...We were going to do May 9, 2009- but my cousin is making communion- so we started to think about other dates. We were going to do a wedding in December bc we got engaged on Christmas...but it just so happen that 2 weeks later Jan 9, fell on a Sat...the rest is history

Re: ~*~*~*5/7 QOTD*~*~*~

way before FH even entered the picture, i wanted 12/16 (it was my parents anniversary) but since it is a Wed in 2009 and a Thurs in 2010, that wasn't going to happen.

we both wanted sat night because we have a lot of OOT guests. we couldn't afford summer, so we started looking at dates around school holidays. we picked march 27 because it is the week before easter and we could take a mini honeymoon that week. we also looked at the hofstra calender to see when spring break was because FH wasn't sure he would finish his masters in dec. he will be done, so that doesn't really matter now.

it also turns out that we got engaged on 7/27 and we'll be married on 3/27.

Well my dream wedding would have been in September...but FH was a little late in proposing. !! ...(Sept 21st) ...would have given us less than a year to plan..Also a good friend of fh is getting married sept 23 and fh is in the wedding.
As we went looking for dates we found that we could have an over the time no holding back wedding for a lot cheaper if we booked on an off month.....which is where we got March from. Plus we booked at the Inn of New Hyde Park and when we were looking for dates in Oct of 2008 they had all of 2009 booked already!! March was they closest they had available. We picked a Saturday for two reasons.....ONE because our wedding date falls during lent and people don't eat meat on friday...and TWO because I didn;t want everyone to be rushing home from work on a friday and then going to our wedding...Saturday seemed the best for us. =)

Re: ~*~*~*5/7 QOTD*~*~*~

We went through all the months-
Oct- previous anniversary, didnt want that month. November- too many birthdays and anniversarys
Dec, Jan, Feb- Too cold- hate the cold and snow
Mar- too many b'day and anniv. here too
April- afraid it would be too rainy
May- was a possibility- but decided too many of our friends got married in May
June- FH b'day he didnt want to get married the same month
Jul and Aug- Too Hot
Sept- was perfect

Now the date:
We wanted a Sat
The 1st weekend Moms b'day- didnt want to do it then
2nd weekend was 9/11- obvious reasons
So we went with the 18th
