We had a difficult time picking a date. I personally wanted Saturday, March 20, 2010 (our 10 year anniversary) but FH wanted a new date to celebrate. We considered dates in May & September & then we finally decided on Friday, April 23 because of the Cherry Blossoms in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. (it’s a yearly tradition that FH & I go to so we figured it would be extra special.)

We originally wanted Fall '09 but by the time we got engaged (4 weeks ago) it was way too late to start planning (i'm a lawyer and work miserable hours... as i'm sitting at my desk on LIW instead of doing work!). We didn't want to wait until Fall 2010 because we've been dating for 7 years and we'll both be 30 this year and would like to have some babies relatively soon ... April was too chilly for me, June too hot for him (allegedly), so that left May. The other problem with April for us was that we'd like it to be relatively warm for our honeymoon (we're planning europe - he hates beaches and laying in the sun in general). Sooooo.... that's how we got to May 15!

Re: ~*~*~*5/7 QOTD*~*~*~
At first I always thought I wanted a spring/summer wedding, but then when the time came for me to actually set a date all I thought about was having a bad hair day!!! My hair is Curly and frizzes over anything! And that's the last thing I need on my wedding day! My b-day is in Sept which is usually always humid and muggy and again I always have bad b-day hair so I decided Oct would be good, the humid, muggy days will HOPEFULLY be over and I love the way the leaves look and the colors. So when we decided on Oct, Leonard's only had the first two weekends available and I didn't go with the first one because it was too close to Sept, so I went with the 8th!

Something kept pushing me towards 9-18-10.
FH called his Mom to tell her the date. Turns out that was her wedding date and FH's dad died when he was 9. She was soo teary and said it was definitely his Dad teling us to get married that day

Re: ~*~*~*5/7 QOTD*~*~*~
Oh man so much drama behind our date actually...time to make a very long story short:
Basically FSIL got engaged on New Years Eve and she STILL has not chosen a date. Her and her FH live in Munich, so we had incredible drama through emails. She insisted that we should get married in 2011, even though I wanted 2010 so my grandparents had a chance of being there. We really wanted May 2nd (our dating anniversary, it happens to be on a Sunday in 2010) but SHE wanted to get married in May so we let it go. Then we tried to work around them but every date we gave them there was some problem with it. So long story very short, we got engaged and landed on July 18th and I told FH that if he wanted to marry me, that's the day I'd be ready to marry him. I was sick of compromising our wedding day happiness for someone who just kept throwing up barriers.
FH wanted to wait for them to choose a date and is SO glad he didn't because they've been engaged almost 5 months and they STILL HAVE NOT CHOSEN A DATE.
Whatever, after all that I'm now incredibly happy with our date. 7 is a conventionally lucky number and 18 is a lucky number in Judaism and 2010 is an even year and I like even numbers so I'm settled and happy

I totally picked my date because of the numbers. At first we were going to look at March 14 because it was our engagement date and then August 28th because it was our first date. But we already have those as special days and something just felt right about 10/10/10. Also, I love that it's in the fall on a Sunday and the next day is a holiday. The funny thing is that when I think back, I always thought I'd be a summer bride because I love the warm weather but it's exciting to see how things turn out!

we're getting married on our 5 year anniversary..it was just an added bonus that it was during the summer..we were originally going to do sunday of that weekend, because i thought sat would be too expensive, but the sat afternoon worked out perfect..only thing that stinks is that our year count will go back down to zero

OK so I figured we'd do 10/10/10 but that was only because I didn't expect to engaged engaged until this coming Summer. When he proposed in October it threw me for a loop.
April seemed like a good month because it's not too warm yet.... I hate being hot. Prices are still good for vendors. We got a great deal I think and I'm super psyched. I just hope it doesn't rain like the Dickins.... but if it does.. oh well. That's good luck anyway!

Re: ~*~*~*5/7 QOTD*~*~*~
I knew I wanted a Saturday night and FH & I wanted to keep it as close to our dating anniversary (1/14) as we could so we chose 1/16. We chose that date immediately before we had even seen any reception halls and we just happened to get lucky that it was open. Another thing was that FH & I both hate the heat and would rather be cold any day, and the price was great too. So we're really happy with our date.

Re: ~*~*~*5/7 QOTD*~*~*~
We wanted a fall wedding, preferably in October. However, when we saw October prices compared to November prices, we started learning towards November.
We REALLY wanted a Saturday and the only Saturday in November that our RH had left was November 13-- which is actually perfect because 13 is my favorite number and the number 3 has signifiance for FH & I!

Re: ~*~*~*5/7 QOTD*~*~*~
We originally wanted something in the early to mid-fall, but then I realized something - FH is Muslim and observes Ramadan each year. In doing so, he fasts for a month. Ramadan usually occurs in the fall sometime, which would mean that if our anniversary fell during Ramadan, he really wouldn't be able to have much fun. His energy level is super low during those weeks due to fasting.
So, we started to look at July...and then when we went to book at the Swan Club, I told them that we were open to Father's Day or the 4th of July (since it'd save $$$). Father's Day was available with a nice discount per person, and we liked how the numbers were all even: 6/20/10.
Also, I looked it up and next year, it'll be the longest day of the year. This was after the fact, but I think it's kinda cool!

We ( really I) wanted September/ October. FH really wanted the summer. We were trying to stay within budget as much as possible and Saturday's at the places we liked weren't within our budget so we had the idea of doing Labor Day Sunday so this way, it's like a Saturday since most people have off on that Monday. When we called the RH, we asked about Sunday, Sept 5th rates and they gave us standard Sunday rates, not realizing it was a holiday weekend! When we met with them, they said they didn't realize and we would need to pay Satuday rates for that Sunday. After speaking with them a few minutes, they honored the original quote I received!

Re: ~*~*~*5/7 QOTD*~*~*~
FH and I were originally looking for a winter wedding around our anniversary date Jan. 27 because of price. BUT, I REALLY want to get married outside. We thought we wouldn't be able to afford spring or summer. So, when our BM offered an amazing price for May, we couldn't refuse, even with it being an afternoon on Memorial Day. FH really wanted our RH, so I said, 'I'll book right now, this place, if we take the date in May.' And we did.

Re: ~*~*~*5/7 QOTD*~*~*~
Well we were very open to dates, all the way from March until October. We wouldve loved a Saturday night but we knew we couldnt afford it so it wouldve been a Friday or a Sunday. Summer and Fall dates just werent in our price range for the places we liked, originally we were thinking of a March date but I was just nervous about snow. For a few more dollars pp, we chose April and it just happens to be 3 days before our 5 year dating anniversary so that worked out nicely. I wouldve liked April 25 since that was open to us and it was just a week later so it might be a little warmer but my mom got married on that date and eghh, that didnt work out so that was definately out for us.

Well, I always wanted a halloween wedding. When we wwnt to look at our hall, I fell in love with it, and it did not look like the type of decor that would look right all halloweened out, if that makes any sense! Originally, we had agreed on 11/6/2010. For some reasin, I had a pull towards the 13th. And there you have it!
