A bit down....

A bit down....

So here I am....3 months and a week to my wedding day. I haven't lost a pound!!!! In the past 7 months, I've lost 5 lbs, gained it back...lost and gained it back. I've been to the drs to see if it's hormonal...nothing. I'm desperate and seriously considering the Master Cleanse Diet. There are risks w/ any diet, but I figure I'd have to go really extreme. Thing is I don't want to try this diet and then work out, like I have been....I'll burn more calories than I actually take in. What to do?!
What would you do?

I would enjoy this time.
I know that you want to lose weight...but in all honesty its just not worth it.
You will lose some naturally as the time gets closer.
I lost 12 pounds in the 12 days before my wedding. NO JOKE. The stress is crazy.
I saw your picture; you're going to be a magnificent bride. If I were you, I'd just try, eat healthy, lots of protein, NO Pasta, and prudent portions. That's it.
THis is such an amazing time in life....dieting is annoying.

Re: A bit down....

I just lost six pounds doing the Dr. Natura Colon cleanse. I only did it for three weeks too! It says to do it for one to three months but I am going to pick it up again the month before my wedding.
The cleanse is all natural. You take these pills in the morning and then drink a fiber drink. Then a tea at night. There is a little cramping and you def. go to the bathroom...but nothing crazy like running to the toilet every five minutes.
You feel really cleansed and it makes you want to eat healthy cause you know you are getting rid of all the bad stuff and you want to put in good!
(I also started working out about a week into it.)
Check out the website....it's $70 per month.

I wanted to lose weight but I HATE dieting. As the wedding gets closer, I've been eating a bit less. I'm really making an effort to eat better. I'm also sometimes skipping meals (never breakfast) but I think I just don't have the time right now. In the two weeks since I first went to see my dress and had another fitting, I lost like 5lbs and my dress fit smoother. I agree with the other poster, try to eat a little better now and you'll be fine.

Just try to do it all the healthy way, get some extra activity.

...I always loved that quote from Monster in Law- 'Im getting the dress to fit my body, not the other way around.'

Wish I could say just be happy where youre at but I know it can be really frustrating to not be where you want to with your weight. Good luck w/ this!

Weight Watchers all the way. If you can be regimented, it works great!

Re: A bit down....

please don't do anything drastic...... just hang in there. You should only diet and exercise to FEEL better, not for looks.... eat a lot of veggies and fruit, try to eat a bit low carb and low fat (nothing crazy low), cut out the artificial sweeteners and the prepackaged food, and try to exercise with a bit of weights and aerobics at least everyother day.

you'll FEEL great, and likely will lose weight too.

and try not to stress out too much....

(I lost over 35 lbs doing this.... and I swear it's really important to stop eating fake food and prepackaged stuff.... no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, corn syrup-filled foods... if cheese is in powder form, push it away! Just doing that will likely tack an extra 10 years on all of our lives!!!

After several months of 'detox', you'll be amazed at how BAD soda, fast food, and artifical flavor/sweeteners will taste....)

Don't do the Master Cleanse...I did it a year ago and it is awful. The first couple days weren't too bad, but after that it is miserable and you gain back everything you lost as soon as you come off it.

Therefore as a 'cleanse' it is great, but not as a weight-loss strategy. I agree with what the other girls said.

Now that it is starting to get nice out, go for a walk/run outside, and eat smaller healthy portions. If you are feeling down, exercise ALWAYS makes you feel better!! It is just hard to work up the motivation sometimes!

Re: A bit down....

first off, in order to lose weight, you're SUPPOSED to burn more calories than you take in. That's basically the definition of weightloss.... if you burn less calories than you take in, you gain weight. If you burn the same amount, you maintain. If you burn more, you lose.

That said, the master cleanse is just not a good idea. It's not MEANT to be a weightloss technique - it's meant to cleanse your body of toxins. For weightloss, it's just going to make you hungry and gain it all back later.

What exactly have you been doing? What is your diet like? What kind of exercise are you doing?
You can feel like you're working your butt off and not getting anywhere, but in reality really be doing nothing useful because you're not doing the right things. So, what have you been doing? Be more specific, and perhaps we can help you!

Re: A bit down....

You still have 3 months.

My suggestion is that you go to a nutritionist and have them set up a plan for you. I hate to call it a diet because if effective it can be a life change where you modify the foods you eat, but you are still allowed to eat foods that you enjoy.

Also - if possible - see if you can get a personal trainer or take some classes at your local gym. By doing this, you will push yourself further. Usually when we work out, we hit a plateau and we need to change our routine in order to see results. These are both SAFE ways to lose weight and will help you keep the weight off after the wedding as well. Quick fixes are never good for your body.
