A coworker just came back from her honeymoon...

Original post by PoppedInASnap

And was crying on the phone. I saw her later on and said Whats the matter? Are you okay? And she said 'I spent too much on my wedding'

So she proceeded to tell me about all the extras that they had....

And told me that between her and her parents they spent roughly 250,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost died when she told me that her dress alone was 42,000 dollars...

I felt so bad because she was a mess but at the same time I wondered 'Why put yourself into debt like that?'

Anyone afraid that will happen to them? I get worried sometimes myself....

Well I would think so... but ya never know. I took my sister to Paris and Amsterdam for a week for her 21st birthday as her present and it really didnt cost that much because I got good deals etc.. it can be a very reasonable priced vacation if you dont go overboard...I was able to afford it and I cant even afford an entire wedding that cost as much as her dress lol.

but who knows!!! No matter how many different ways this thing is spun the wedding still cost 250k and you dont do that unless your celebrity status or filthy rich, IMO...

I really am dying to see pictures..

I just choked.

42k on a dress!!! I'm having an anxiety attack! GOOD GOD!! My entire wedding won't cost that!!

THAT IS SO UNNECESSARY

You can find a gorgeous dress for WAYYY less than that. I think my $1400 dress is much nicer looking than a girl I know who spent $5000 on hers (I hated hers!)

omg, I don't even know what to respond, I am dumbfounded.

There are ways to make your wedding look platinum but keep the cost down.

I'm dying to see this dress. Do you think it looks anything like that 400 lb dress that 16 year old girl from another country wore that was posted a few weeks ago??

I get worried that I spend on money on little things for the wedding... but come on...$42,000 on the dress alone!!?? I don't think my wedding will be any where near that! I would die!

I am sorry, but that is ridiculous. Only if u are a millionaire. I rather put that money towards a house,

$42K for a DRESS?! That's more than my entire wedding budget! That kind of thing doesn't happen by accident. You really have to go out of your way to drop that kind of money on a wedding. I know it's b!tchy but I have no sympathy for that kind of spending.

In addition, doe she realize she potentially ruined her marriage already by putting themselves in debt from the getgo? money is the #1 issue in fights and prob why lots of people end up in divorce... poor girl...

But can someone REALLY get that far away from reality? So much so that their THAT much in debt? Her wedding was planned within 6 months of the engagement, so i could understand it was all rushed...but can you really become that unfocused?

what nationality is she? just asking bc you said she bought her dress from Israel. Some cultures the parents do take over and tell their kids how it must be done, and the kids just obey. I dont think its an excuse dont get me wrong, i didnt do anything that i didnt want to do and couldn't be forced to do anything. I dont understand but i do see it in some cultures and does happen.

Its horrible though and if its what her parents wanted then i dont see why she has to pay them back.
