A coworker just came back from her honeymoon...

Original post by PoppedInASnap

And was crying on the phone. I saw her later on and said Whats the matter? Are you okay? And she said 'I spent too much on my wedding'

So she proceeded to tell me about all the extras that they had....

And told me that between her and her parents they spent roughly 250,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost died when she told me that her dress alone was 42,000 dollars...

I felt so bad because she was a mess but at the same time I wondered 'Why put yourself into debt like that?'

Anyone afraid that will happen to them? I get worried sometimes myself....

thats just crazy. Im not worried at all. We never really set a budget but we know what we have & excatly what we want & want to spend. If we go over a little its still not a big deal. I would never go into debt for a wedding. And i never use credit cards!!!

i didnt use CC's either bc after the wedding didnt want to have a ton of bills. Although some say oh i'll pay the bill as soon as it comes, for some this doesnt happen. Also inmy everyday life i dont use CC's, i dont even have CC's anymore. The only ones i kept were bloomies and macy's and i dont really use them.

I'm dying to see this dress. Do you think it looks anything like that 400 lb dress that 16 year old girl from another country wore that was posted a few weeks ago??

I was thinking the same thing...
Shes the speech teacher and she ISNT in today and no one seems to know her last name. We are waiting because we all want to search her last name and find pictures of her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In addition, doe she realize she potentially ruined her marriage already by putting themselves in debt from the getgo? money is the #1 issue in fights and prob why lots of people end up in divorce... poor girl...

But can someone REALLY get that far away from reality? So much so that their THAT much in debt? Her wedding was planned within 6 months of the engagement, so i could understand it was all rushed...but can you really become that unfocused?

what nationality is she? just asking bc you said she bought her dress from Israel. Some cultures the parents do take over and tell their kids how it must be done, and the kids just obey. I dont think its an excuse dont get me wrong, i didnt do anything that i didnt want to do and couldn't be forced to do anything. I dont understand but i do see it in some cultures and does happen.

Its horrible though and if its what her parents wanted then i dont see why she has to pay them back.

Shes jewish, do you think that makes a difference?

I think I was there....My mom took my there several years ago with family for a special mother's day event....we did look at for a wedding spot....picture Okeha on steroids....from the hand painted murals on the ceiling..just incredible.....What turned mee off was I like one room for the CH & another room for the Recpt....but they won't do that combo (they have several rooms)...that's if it is the same place....SOrry don't know the name.
