And was crying on the phone. I saw her later on and said Whats the matter? Are you okay? And she said 'I spent too much on my wedding'
So she proceeded to tell me about all the extras that they had....
And told me that between her and her parents they spent roughly 250,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I almost died when she told me that her dress alone was 42,000 dollars...
I felt so bad because she was a mess but at the same time I wondered 'Why put yourself into debt like that?'
Anyone afraid that will happen to them? I get worried sometimes myself....

Re: A coworker just came back from her honeymoon...
WoW... Needless to say I agree with what everyone else said about this matter. I just don't understand how her parents made her spend all this because they had to live up a standard and they were things this girl didn't even want?? And now they expect her to pay all that back??!?!?! ARE THEY NUTS?!??!
And are they the most awful parents ever for not teaching their child how to save and be responsible?!?! ! Mazz is totally right! This marriage is at a disadvantage basically before it even begins. I mean I know we all have debt (credit cards, loans etc) but not debt like that!! This is the most insane thing I have heard yet.
I honestly feel bad for her husband. If right after she returns from her honeymoon she says 'I should have married a rich man' then she should have never married him in the first place. My FH's heart would break if I ever even thought such a thing. I don't care if my FH was flat broke. He is who my heart has chosen. He is the best thing in my life. I can't believe a newlywed either does not feel that way toward her husband or at least is not expressing it. Such a shame!

thats just crazy. Im not worried at all. We never really set a budget but we know what we have & excatly what we want & want to spend. If we go over a little its still not a big deal. I would never go into debt for a wedding. And i never use credit cards!!!
Wow good for you! I wish I never knew what a credit card was!

Re: A coworker just came back from her honeymoon...
to be honest, I dont feel sorry for her. Why do you need a 42,000.00 dress? that is overkill to say the least. I feel she should have made a better decision when she was planning.

Re: A coworker just came back from her honeymoon...
I would reallyl ove to meet this girl & give her a dose of reality. not to menton her poor Fh that has to deal with her & get put down for not being able to spend what she actually thinks is normal. She says she should have married a rich man .. i say a girl like that doesnt deserve any MAN! Well maybe a few worthless ones i can think of.

Her dress is more than my wedding too!! How do you even spend 42k on a dress? was it made out of gold? geez. That stinks for them and I feel bad for her, but they had to know at some point it was getting out of control... (i would think).
I personally dont even want to spend what we are on this wedding, I would rather do something with it or put it towards a nicer house but it makes our parents happy.
THATS what i said!!!
I dont get it either. I want to see a picture of the dress
Jenny You need to ask her for the link to her pics when she gets them! I would LOVE to see this!

You can use a CC but i really truly believe in paying them of right away. Why accrue interest ? Thats why half the peole are really never able to pay back the actual debt. I guess its teh accountant in me. lol

Re: A coworker just came back from her honeymoon...
My jaw has not yet returned to it normal position since it just dropped to the floor. $250,000!!! That is absolutely insane. And here I thought we were spending a lot of money on our wedding. Well, I'll never complain about it again since our whole wedding and honeymoon cost us less than this poor (no pun intended) girl's dress. Holy cow that is a lot of money.

She said that it was an Israli designer and the dress had to be sent to her....
I say whatever - she could have FLOWN to israel with her entire bridal party to pick it up for 42,000!!!! but should make all the 2 dress girls feel better!
