A coworker left me speechless yesterday...

A coworker left me speechless yesterday...

I really like this lady, she's had a troubled past and she was raised by a very religious mother..but I didn't expect this. She said her son is dating a Jewish girl 'like you' but it won't last once her parents find out. I explained that many of my Jewish friends married nice Christian boys.

Then she says 'I don't mean any offense to this, but why don't Jews just realize ..it's been 2000 years already, the Messiah has already come. Just accept it!'

I've had a lot of people say a lot of things to me about my religion, our customs, our holidays. But no one has every basically said..suck it up and believe in Jesus.

Do you have an HR dept?

I would tell someone how she spoke to you...that is completly out of line.

There is no room for ignorance in this world..

This is one of the many reason to this day that
1. I have never meet with DW parents
2. DW left parents her parents and havnt spoken in 4-5 years..

i dont understand why things bother people when it has nothing to do with them.

all that counts is someone believeing in someone else. race/reglion/sex/etc.... just look past what you can see and the world 'may' be a better place

Wow. Yeah, that's up there with some of the worse ones I've heard.

In high school one girl told me that she didn't like Jewish People because 'their religion is a waste of time.'

I agree with the other girls, it's out of line and you need to go to HR about it. Someone needs 'sensitivity training.'

That is the most riduculous thing I have ever heard! Just b/c someone believes something different from you is no reason to say something like that!

That is awful!!! You should have said something like... 'Yes, we are very paitent people. Waiting for the Messiah and tolerating ignorant people both take great patience.'

What an awful ignorant thing to say! I agree you should contact your HR area.

I've learned a valuable lesson: anytime someone starts a statement with 'I don't mean any offense by this, but...' whatever follows is usually very offensive. Not only that, but the speaker knows it, or they wouldn't start their statement like that to begin with!

I hate statements that start with 'I don't mean to offend you, but...', 'I don't want to hurt your feelings, but...' 'I hope this doesn't upset you, but...'

Get a clue. If you have to start out that way, it will be offensive, hurtful or upsetting!

P.S. - I'm a Christian.
