A dumb question

I have that on my block too---but even better, my aunts old house--the front is in one town and I swear--the back is in another---when they made property lines, her house was not expended and now that it is, it is in 2 diff towns

I've always wondered this...

How can it be that there are two houses situated side by side on a block, and one might be number '17' and the VERY next house is '31'

How can this be? Who numbers the streets?

I just noticed that 2 adjacent houses on MY block are 17 and 13 Fern Ave. Both are east islip. What happened to 15?!

wanna hear an even weirder one...in astoria it goes from 49th street to 71st street theres no 50's and 60's.
