OHHHH you just reminded me...
My grandmother is 92 and lives in Boston. I got engaged in March. When I called her in July for her bday she said 'Hello...so are you still engaged?'
Unbelievable.

I was 39 when I got engaged, a real old spinster.

actually we heard alot of comments on our reception location it was on a 160 foot yacht out of freeport (which was a cruise and left the dock) a lot of people were freaking out and made lots of comments 'I can't beleive they would choose this for there reception' 'why would they choose such a place' 'I can't beleive it leaves and I am stuck on this boat for 5 hrs...' it was unbeleivable ~ I was like ohhh well then DON'T come

I got a good one!!! One of my bridemaids is African American and my aunt actually says to me:

'Isn't it going to look funny in the pictures if there's only one black person in your bridal party??'

I got this one too. only it was alitle worse.

I am having one of my best friends who happens to be a black, gay, male (not that it should matter to anyone) as my 'bridesman'. He will stand on my side but will have the same attire as the groomsmen. Since I only have 4 girls and my bridesman and FH has 5 guys, one of his guys has to walk with my bridesman. not a big deal, lets be adult about it, they don't have to hold hands down the isle or anything.

a friend said
'he's not going to wear a dress is he'

another comment I got was
'he knows that the other groomsmen are married right, so he won't hit on them'

and another
'wont that make him uncomfortable since he is on your side and he's black and gay'
(He doesn't have a rainbow on his tux, geez!)

and finally my FMIL sent FH a voicemail last night
'I feel bad for the groomsman that has to walk with 'the guy' it's just embarrassing'

Why are people so stupid

First of all, we live in the 21st century, get with it. Second...No, he won't wear a dress, give me a break. Third..No he won't be uncomfortable b/c of his race/sexual preference. Will you? and Fourth, are f*cking 5 yrs old, he doens't have cooties.

I would be so ashamed and embarrassed if he ever heard these people talk like this. I just don't understand people sometimes.

That's awful!!! It's so pathetic that people still feel this way and feel the need to make such hurtful comments about people that we care about and want to include in our wedding. They are the ones who are an embarassment for being so damn ignorant. Like why would he wear a dress? Does being gay automatically make you a crossdresser??

I had another family member make a comment that we I should line up my BMs so that the white girl is first, the Latina is next and the black girl is last because 'it would look better if they went in order according to skin color.' Unbelievable.

Good luck with this whole situation and I'm sorry that you have to deal with other people's sh*t like I do

One of my student's parents asked me if I had bought my wedding gown yet. I replied 'Yes'. Then before I could even describe it, she actually had the audacity to say, 'Well, it isn't white, right'. I mean, I don't know your sex life but I'm assuming you have had premarital sex, since your so much older than the average bride. And if you've had sex, than a white dress is a huge no no'.

Keep in mind that I'm 27... Is that really old for a bride????? And can you believe that a parent of one of my students actually said this?????? Best part, it wasn't even a parent that I knew very well. It was my 3rd day with her child.

wow people never cease to amaze me!

I have a wacky neighbor that has lived next door to me for about 3 years, I just found out her name this summer. She heard was getting married and thanked me for having it on Long Island. Nervously confused I said, 'You're welcome.'

Then she said, 'Girl, I wouldn't want to have to congratulate you via satellite, now I can be there. This is great.'

Me smiling...walking away fast and hoping that she doesn't really think I'd invite her....

We were only dating 2 months before we got engaged..so I got A LOT of comments.

1. Umm, is there something you need to tell us? (while pointedly glancing at my belly!)

2. FH's 'best friend' a girl who's lived across the street from him his whole life and is obviously in love with him .... He texted her to tell her the news and she called his cell and I answered and she's all like 'oh, hi, uhhh i need to talk to vinny' so I pass him the phone and can hear her screaming 'ARE YOU CRAZY!!? WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS.' Umm don't think we asked your opinion.

3. Someone at work apparently started a rumor that I was pregnant and they were on Belly Watch 2007 for over a week until one of my friends there came out and asked me if I was.


For the Record...I am not pregnant. We fell ABSOLUTELY HEAD OVER HEALS ON THE FIRST DATE! It CAN happen!

Ok....When asked if I was going to take FH last name I said yes....his last name is SEMAN.

Well the list of comments did not end, some of which I can't write but one was

'I think this is the right time to embrace feminism'

Thanks!!! I am thinking more of embracing family unity. But I must say....taking his last name is true love

my father says' why do you need a photographer? we never look at our wedding pics'

me : 'well i also want my future children to be able to see them'

father 'well, none of my children ever look at ours' (my stepsiblings are teenagers who couldnt care less about weddings yet, ofcourse they havent taken interest yet....)

priest-- Church is $700 and pre cana is $50

me- how much is the weekend pre cana class ( i wanna get it over with)

Priest-- Oh no the weekend retreat is $250 you dont wanna spend that kinda money its expensive save for something else

FH aunt/ cant the flower girls choose their own dresses I mean they don't need to match the wedding!!!

School Friend: 3month ago...So I heard you are getting married...two months ago...So I hear you are getting married...this week....take a guess...and No you are not invited...

Cousin: Dont invite the cheapos from that side of the fam you know they will not give good gifts and don't block an expensive hotel im not paying more than 100 a night.

Cousin: Why is your mom doing a big bridal shower to Feed people that wont get you gifts..
