Re: A poll...
My friend who had her baby friday went a week before she had her baby. It was a fund raiser at a bar for her sister in law and her friends birthday though.

Re: A poll...
I think that's a little different, and I think that would be okay. But this was just an ordinary Saturday Night in a bar, past midnight.
Maybe my DH and I are too cautious...

Re: A poll...
Karen I am with you! If it were an event ok maybe. But to just hang out, I cannot even see why she would want to be there? Unless she wanted to go out dancing hoping that it might break her water?

Re: A poll...
Now that you can't smoke in bars, I don't see a problem with it. Is it any different then her going to a late night movie? I understand bars can be loud and driving home late at night might be dangerous. But a mall can be very loud as well and you can get into a car accident during the day. Personally as long as she's not drinking and it's a smoke free bar, I don't see a problem with it. But maybe once I'm pregnant I'll change my mind on that.

Re: A poll...
Only if
- the bar actually practiced the no smoking ban
- Would depend on the circumstances (ie: if a party or a benefit or a good band was playing), yes I'd go, if just 'to hang out' - then it would depend on who was going. If it was people I haven't seen in awhile I would make an appearance.
- obviously I would only drink something like club sode or ginger ale there.
- and I wouldn't stay or go if I knew it would be very crowded or if the crowd was rowdy. Don't need to be bumped around or chance slipping and falling.
I don't think I would stay that late either but then again I probably would tire out early anyway.

Not sure why that should be a problem. As long as the no smoking ban is being appplied and she isn't drinking alcohol, I don't see anything wrong with it. Maybe she was sick of being stuck at home while everyone else was out having fun!

Re: A poll...
My MOH just recently had her baby. We both work at a piano bar in the city. She worked up until she was 8 months. Now, I personally plan on soaking the pregnancy thing for all its worth, but I understand her need for continuing to work. Plus, with the no smoking ban in bars I feel that it is okay for someone who is pregnant to continue to enjoy going out and being with their friends( As long as they were not drinking).

I see no problem with it. Just because you're pregnant shouldnt mean you have a curfew.
It's her decision. If she feels confident enough to go out, why not?
I can see other's being overly concerned about waterbreaking or god knows what else, but not everyone worries that much.
No biggie in my opinion. Again, it's not me, it's her decision. Would I? I don't know. Im not pregnant and not a bar hopper anyway.

Re: A poll...
no problem at all...
My friend is sue in January and since we were so busy last weekend when we visited NY...she came and met us at the bar we were in for a few hours...
1. she knew there was no smoking (theres an outside area for the smokers...so noone cheats there)
2. its a bar we go to (or used to - when I lived in NY) regularly and it is usually quite empty...
but I will say her DH was very protective...he had her in a seat and almost shielded her from anyone bumping into her...it was actually really cute...
