A Post for Ecuadorian Brides/Grooms

Since there were so many brides or grooms from ecuador I thought we could start a thread ...

where are you/your fh from in Ecuador?
have you ever visited?
If it is your soon to be spouse who is from ecuador how do you communicate with the family?
are you including any ecuadorian traditions in your wedding?

Re: A Post for Ecuadorian Brides/Grooms

My Fh is from Riobamba...he still has the majority of his family there, most of who will not be able to come to the states for our wedding
he came here as a teenager ...
i visisted ecuador with him, we went to quito, riobamba, esmeraldas,Salinas, otavalo, and a few other smaller towns
it was a great experience, except that i DONT speak spanish, so I was asking, what did he/she say A LOT!

his parents speak english//broken english but enough to communicate and his dad owns a business here in CT so he knows enough...

i dont think we are having any traditions from ecudaor for our wedding...id like to but we dont know of many and he doesnt want to do the rope, padrinos,
maybe a dessert would be good--- i wonder???

My father was born 'en la costa' the coast small town in the country
My mother was born in Cuenca

I went there a few times as a kid and visited about 3 times as an adult 2001-2002.

My mother speaks some English and my siblings all speak english and he understands and speaks some spanish so it works out sometimes.

I honestly dont know any ecuadorian traditions. But i would especially b/c my father passed away last year so i want to do something special in his memory we were really close.

Hi!
I'm not from Ecuador but since you seem interested in traditions I thought the Latin Brides thread would help you...click here! There are traditions listed such as the lazos, arras and padrinos. Happy planning!

whats the rope?

It's explained on the thread (link posted above)...it's called 'lazos de amor' and it's a rope that goes around the bride and groom during the church (or ceremony) symbolizing their union.

Never did I ever imagine that there would be a post for Ecuadorian Brides/Grooms. It's a great idea I wonder if there was ever a forum in general for Latino Brides and Grooms?

I love this post!!!
My Dad is from Guayaquil and my Mom grew up in Salinas. I was born here but have been to Ecuador a lot. Last time was when FH and I had just started going out! We plan to go there soon....maybe some time after the wedding.
