A stupid cooking question

Does Basil and Cilantro come sold in dry form or am I only stuck using it fresh?

You can get it dry in the spices aisle.

Re: A stupid cooking question

I grew up always freezing fresh basil as well. Of course fresh is always the best but this is a nice alternative. We'd pick off the leaves and freeze it flat in tin foil. It worked for me and my family. I have also bought it dried (in spice aisle) as a substitute...but if basil is the major part of the recipe I always buy fresh.

I tried this with cilantro once and it didn't work well. I just love the smell of cilantro but rarely buy it because it goes bad so quick. Next year it is in my garden!

Another tip is that cilantro and coriander are the same thing... so if you have trouble finding dried cilantro, check for coriander! I think that's what it's called in Europe.

Are you sure that coriander and cilantro are thesame thing? They dont smell the same.

Niecey, I'll try freezing basil like you suggested!!!
Do you just soak it in water when you need to use it?
