Amy how do you make the wax seals? Are they expensive? Do you have a picture?

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

I got the Wax Seals from this site:

http://www.oldschoolseals.com/

They were great to work with. Here's a picture of the sample they worked up for me. I think the seal itself was $38. I bought two boxes (25per box) of silver faux wax sticks for $6 each. And I bought a new mini glue gun from them for $4. I think with shipping it was around $60 total.

They were hard to do until I got a tip from someone on LIW. When we first played with them on plain paper, they kept sticking to the paper and the stamp. Then we learned to chill the stamp on ice inbetween use and then it comes right up. To make it easier to avoid ripping envelopes, we use a cookie sheet to produce all of our stamps, and then when it comes time to seal our invitations, we'll either use glue or a another dollup of the faux wax to affix the seals we made. I'll try and get a picture of an actual seal so you can see.

I highly recommend it though -- it's very cool!

Hi girls... I just thought I would let you know... My mom got me the cutest pajamas from Lane Bryant. They are pink pants that say all wedding related things and a tank top that says blushing bride. It was so nice to see cute items for a bride in a plus size. Check it out...they had a lot of cute items.

Christine - Wow! That's great! I was just at a shower at that Pomodorino's 2 weeks ago -- the food was delish! Did you get lots of gifts? The fish theme sounds so cute! I can't wait to see pictures!

Mine must be soon -- I'm noticing things coming off my registry. Plus my Aunts have been whispering a lot when they think I'm not noticing.

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

We stayed at the Tropicana, upgraded to a room in the tower. I will try to post pics tomorrow but I can say we had the best time. I didn't run around to see everything, we just had a great time going at our own pace....daytime by the pool, nightime at the clubs. Yes we went to Olympic Gardens but I kind of did that stuff in my 20s, so I felt a little silly. But, it was an eyeopener, ESPECIALLY seeing what was going on DOWNstairs!
We did go to Rum Jungle with someone who works at the Mandalay so no waiting in line...and dinner at Eat in MGM...and lots of just relaxing by the pool a little gambling (I came out ahead about $67), and met tons of nice, interesting people. And the engagement ring really worked its charm, incredible!

I love those PJ's. Did your mom get them at the store or in the catalog? Even though my wedding is over I want a pair.

Thanks

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

Actually KelJo04's Mom saw them first. She said she saw them in the store. I found them to order from the LaneBryant.com web site too. They now have a whole Special Occassion Sleepwear section -- like cream colored satiny nighties, etc. It's nice they finally woke up!

BTW -- I have two weddings to go to in September -- both evenings. I want to get something new -- Lord & Taylor didn't have anything, Nordstrom didn't either. I had been to Estelle's a couple months ago and didn't like what they had. Where else can I look? Everything at Lane Bryant and Avenue is too casual. Help!

I usually wind up at L&T. I've also found some special occassion dresses at Marshalls, maybe you can look there?

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

I went to a wedding in March and had the same problem. So I went to Macy's in Roosevelt field and I found this great suit with a red chinese jacket and black pants. I got so many compliments on it. It was lined and everything. Best part it was on clearence rack for $25!!! Marked down from over $200! That was my lucky day. I have a picture of me in the outfit at home. I will post it later tonight. So check out Macy's you might get lucky.

Everything that L&T had last week was either too frumpy -- or like a fancy suit. I never thought of Marshall's. I'm going to look at JC Penny & Macy's in Roosevelt Field. Maybe I'll get lucky.
