OK I know I said I wouldn't be on the boards for a few days.. and for the most part, I'm not up for rehashing any of it. I truly give the Yankee fans credit for being able to function after what just transpired, but I for one canont even think clearly about the fact that we just made history in the worst possible fashion ever
That said, I just wanted to let SweetAdeline know that you rock! You were far more eloquent in your words than I EVER could be, and you truly give us Yankee fans a good nameYou rock!!!
I am SO with you on #2 and 3. Right ON point
However, I wish I could be so big as to say that I want to see the Sox go all the way. I don't at all. Sure I respect them and sure they are the better team, and the totally deserve to be headed for the WS. They outplayed us and embarrassed us and they are true champions of the ALCS. But that still doesn't mean I want to see them be WS CHamps. Not at all
You can call me bitter, and thats fine. I will admit that I AM BITTER this morning. But the LAST THING I would ever want to see , even if the Yankees were dead last and not even in the running, is the Sox win the World Series. Its the nature of our rivalry. And I'm sure every Sox fan would say the same if the tables were turned
I am an American League girl thru and thru, but this is the one year I have to say ......Go National League!!
Here, here. I don't care which NL team wins. Both teams would make a good world series-Clemens vs. the Sox. The Cards who I think beat the Red Sox before in the world series-not all to sure of that.
In the end I know it's going to be the Astros that go against the Sox. They have all those players with B's-Biggio, Beltran, Bagwell and Berkman. And you know the Red Sox have to lose because of somebody with a B. It's just fate.

I like the way you think, Jen
The 'B' theory is a great one!I actually came on to see if I saw you, b/c then I'd know if you were in the hosp. yet or not! I see not!!
I truly think that baby or yours knows he/she just should not be born on this date.... a date most Yankee fans will never be able to live down and will unfortunately go down in history.

Thanks, Felicia!
I hear ya on the bitterness factor -- believe me, I'm really not thrilled, and just because I wish the Red Sox well and respect them doesn't mean I'll be rooting for them in the series!
(I'm just trying to make us Yankees fans feel better in these trying times...

I agree. I will not allow it to be born on this date. I will keep my legs closed all day if I have to.

You are great
And honestly, thanks for a truly great post. It really it helped brighten my day a lot , esp given the fact that I dreaded coming to work. One of my bosses is a diehard Sox fan , and he is being most unkind . And practially every person in this humungous firm , people who hardly know me no less, has decided to email me to either (1) give me sympathy or (2) give me load of grief.
That's what I get for wearing my love for the Yankees on my sleeve

I'm sorry Felicia. But if it's any consolation, my boss just came in my office to give me a Cardinals hat, jersey, and rally towel from the game last night. On the towel was written 'B like your Astros and B gone'.
As the only Astros fan in St. Louis (other than DH) I am never going to hear the end of it if they lose tonight...

Thanks! And here I thought I had it bad
You are potentially in a far worse situation than I am here in NY.
I feel for you, it cannot be easy to be a Astros fan in St. Louis

I'm totally pulling for the 'Stros, actually. It should be a great series if they play the Sox.

NOOOOO!!! You CANNOT have Carlos Beltran! He's ours!!!!![]()
![]()
I really hope the Yanks get Beltran. Then they will probably bow out in the 1st round next year instead of the CS.
The yanks need PITCHING. PITCHING and DEFENSE wins championships. Why do you think Boston got rid of Nomar and picked up Cabrera? For Defense!
My FW thought this was a total bonehead move by Boston and I kept saying otherwise... looking like the fool. Well she still won't admit to it now... but I know she believes me now.
And you can forget about them doing the farm thing. The Yanks farm system is rated one of the WORST in the entire league. Why do you think they were unable to land the Unit? Because they had nothing to give up! Rebuilding the farm is a multi-year process (something the Mets were trying to do). No way the Boss will go for that.

I disagree. I think that George may actually learn this time that rebuilding is important. Maybe I'm an idealist, but whatever. And I'm trying to keep this on a positive note.
