yes women can wear yarmulkes too. i am a cantor and i wear a kippah (hebrew version of yarmulke, which is a yiddish term).
traditionally, jewish married women wear a lace on their heads.

Can I ask a question? (background first...I grew up in the south, in 23 years living there, I met 2 Jewish people so I am really playing catch up here on LI)

do women wear yamicas (sp?)? I was under the impression that only men wore these, but today while driving to lunch in plainview I saw a lady wearing one. I am just trying to understand, honest...like on wed. I was confused as to why people called asking if our office would be open today.

thanks, i just wondered. i had never heard of a woman wearing one before, but wanted to know for sure.
