A friend of mine is planning a NYC wedding from California. She is interested in checking out the Abigail Kirsch locations.
Anyone know anything about them? From what I hear they are beautiful
ETA: The locations are The New York Botanical Garden, Tappan Hill, Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers, The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers

Re: Abigail Kirsch
here is what I heard. I looked at Tappan Hill for my wedding. The place is beautiful and the catering is supposed to be very good, but I heard that the portions are extrememly small and food is important to my Jewish family. Love to eat! No one ever has their wedding at Pier 60- It is sort of a cold, convention center but The Lighthouse is where Weddings are and it is gorgeous. Fits about 125-150 people. The one thing I did not love was the parking. There is a ugly garage that everyone has to go through to get into the place. Thought that they were very accomodating though and I heard that Kirsch is meticulous.

Re: Abigail Kirsch
lighthouse at chelsea piers is very nice. different. not your typical reception hall. huge huge windows overlooking the water (view isn't that great though). its one huge room that they split up using curtains so you have separate cocktail hour section & reception section. i agree with the garage comment. food was amazing.

I've only been to the Lighthouse and I thought the food was outstanding. Much better than most wedding food. Since she is out of town, it will really help that they are also very easy to deal with. You don't get a tasting, but they are very organized and they can run these things with their eyes shut. I liked the Lighthouse. I would tell her to look into 200 Fifth, Tribeca Rooftop and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens - Some of my favorite places all with good food as well. PS: I found the portions to be more than enough. Really, the food was great.
