Above Ground Oil Tank..>Please HELP!!!

I don't know too much about this but we were supposed to have an above ground oil tank installed this morning.

MY MIL called very upset!! She said they came this morning and said they have to run a line through my house? And they are going to break up my concrete in the front...and perform half the work today...half the work tomorrow? She said I should cancel with this oil company b/c they want to do a half a$ed job.

Has anyone had one installed and if so does this sound normal? Please help!!!

They said they have to tear up my concrete out in front and also tear up the rugs inside my house to run the line through the house?

Re: Above Ground Oil Tank..>Please HELP!!!

where are the tanks being installed? they should be installed right outside where ever your oil burner is....not the otherside of the house. I would call and straighten this out.

Re: Above Ground Oil Tank..>Please HELP!!!

How are you receiving oil now?? Can't they just use the original piping or at least the opening from the original piping??

Re: Above Ground Oil Tank..>Please HELP!!!

Our oil tank is in the basement. We have a line going through the foundation to outside, so that the oil company can fill up the tank without coming into the house. They should put it in a location where its closest to the outside wall, to minimize the area they have to run the pipe through.

Re: Above Ground Oil Tank..>Please HELP!!!

We had this done- but ours wasn't as messy. The put a hose from the tank and drilled a hole into our garage, which the oil tank rests up against outside. They then ran the line along the wall of the garage , drilled another hole into where our boiler is- I guess it's like a mud room/utility room. I wasn't thrilled about doing it this way, but they could not use the oil line that was connected to the underground oil tank.
They did spend 2 days here setting it up, but the weather was lousy when they installed it. I think they had to wait for cement to dry too- they had to put down some cement so the oil tank would be on an even surface.
My advice- ask a lot of questions- I didn't completely understand a lot of this and asked a ton of questions over and over until I understood it.
