FH's parents are coming over to my parents' house for Passover Seder tonight... I'm starting to get nervous! I wasn't nervous at all before...

They're not Jewish, but FH says that they've been to Seders before and know what to expect... I sure hope so.

They've met my parents, but I don't remember if they've met my extended family. If so, not recently and not for any extended period of time.

I'm also nervous about anything I might cook... like they'll be thinking about it in terms of my ability as a homemaker or whatever crap. (It's crap because I'm not really the 'homemaker' type - I like to cook, but I'm definitely not planning on being a stay at home mom or 'taking care of' FH or cleaning up after him or anything. He's going to have to pull his own weight in the house!)

FH won't even be here as a buffer because he has to work and couldn't get off. I just hope everything goes well and everybody likes each other and nobody talks about anything volatile like politics or religion or whatever, and everyone enjoys themselves. Wish me luck!

UPDATE: ok... well... I guess it could have gone worse...
I mean, it was fine... until we sat down to dinner. At which point my dad and my sister decided to...uh... let their senses of humor out. It was fine, they just got a little wacky, which had the potential to frighten away the FILs. My sister actually said at one point (jokingly) about something we were reading or something: 'Oh, just let the Gentiles do it.' (if you didn't know, Gentile means non-Jew. It's not a completely awful statement, but it could definitely be considered as pretty rude. Hopefully they'll either not get it or let it slide because she's 16 and therefore stupid). Other things too... let's just say that my family is a little insane and they didn't really make an effort to tone it down at all. Which is fine, I love their insanity, it can just be a bit much for those who don't know them well.
So... we shall see. I told FH to ask them how it went and report back to me, so I guess we'll find out what they thought. They didn't seem horrified at the time, but they are VERY polite people, so they wouldn't show it if they were.

Just take a deep breath and relax. I'm sure it will go well. And just remember if it doesn't it will give you a story to tell your kids about their grandparents.....
