Do you call your MIL by her first name or 'mrs so and so'? I never know what to say! I want to be personable and call her by her first name but I don't want to disrespect...thoughts?

Re: Addressing in-laws
I called them Mr and Mrs and waited for them to correct me. You could do this to be on the safe said, just in case they're they're old school or snobby :)
FH's mom didn't ask me to call her by her first name until we got engaged, which bothers me a little. But this is a small thing, and I know I'm lucky, they're very nice to me.

Re: Addressing in-laws
I think by calling them Mr and Mrs it leaves it up to them, they can invite you to call them by their first time.
That being said the whole Mr and Mrs thing is a little lame-o in my opinion

Re: Addressing in-laws
When we first started dating I called them Mr. & mrs. ____, but they both told me to call them by their first names. It was odd at first because as you said, you want to be respectful, but now we are very close, so I only call them by their first names.

Re: Addressing in-laws
Like the first week of knowing them, I called his dad Mr. _____ (mom passes away years ago). Then he was like, you got to stop calling me that, call me Joe. But now I just say dad.

Haha I do that too! But I was writing her a message on facebook yesterday and had to address her...I went with Mrs. so and so. When she wrote back she signed her first name. Does that give me the go ahead to use it? lol

Re: Addressing in-laws
I've always called them by their first names. I guess it depends on what the in-laws want to be called. If I called my in-laws 'Mr and Ms ....' -- they would have corrected me right away.

Re: Addressing in-laws
My fiance calls my parents mom and dad. I felt a little weird doing that so I called them Mama and Papa with their last name becuase everyone calls them that. They don't like Mr. and Mrs. and I don't think they like being called by their first name either.
