Addressing Invitations

Addressing Invitations

I need help addressing my invitations. I read somewhere that if I am inviting a family I should only put the parents names on the outer envelope and then on the inner one put their names again and then below that list the childrens names. Is this the correct way to do it?

Hmm... I can check my Emily Post wedding etiquette book if you'd like (but I know so many people on here think she is outdated... and I agree she is on some stuff!)

If I were inviting the entire family, I would put 'The Smith Family' on the outer envelope and everyone's names on the inner envelope. However, I don't see anything wrong with doing it your way either.

I do recall offhand that the Emily Post book said that children over 10 should get their own invitations if possible. (I personally thought that was a little young, but the point is that older children should probably get their own invites if you can swing it)

I think you could put it either way. The Smith Family on the outter envelop or put mr & mrs smith and then everyones names on the inside. wither way is ok.

I agree... that sounds perfect. keep in mind that only brides and MOB's really know/care about official etiquette rules. Just make sure everyone feels welcome and invited.....
