adoption shower registries..is this tacky?

Original post by aliciahelene

My mom and sisters are planning a shower for us. They told us to register for things we'd like just like for a baby shower. Ive read alot about adoption showers and they seem to be the same type of ettiquette as a baby shower, but my questions is this: I cant find EVRYTHING I need in one place. Not even two places..I have registries at FOUR places..I dont know what to do. Is that rude? Land of Nod has the bedding we love, Target has alot of great kids movies that I would love for the boys to have, Walmart has the sports stuff and lots of great books and Penneys has a few things as well, such as their soccer ball foof chair that I cant find anywhere else.
We dont know when our shower is, we just know it will be happening..I know the invitation will include an insert with the places we are registered at, but is having four places tacky? Each store hardly has any items, but what I found at Target, I cant find at walmart, etc. HELLPP

it's not tacky. but, my only concern is that you said some of the stores only have a couple items? If that's the case, don't include that registry card in every invite because people may end up shopping there, only to find out that the items have all been purchased.

I don't think it's tacky at all!
I am sure people will love buying stuff for the new boys, esp. since they are older it will be a whole different kind of shower. I bet it is going to be lots of fun.

My parents adopted three kids all at once.

They weren't as old as yours are, but the point is most people who are close enough to be invited to your show will understand the need for 4 places.

I don't think it's rude at all, as long as you're not registering for completely frivolous stuff, given your situation it's fine. When you're trying to raising two older children the needs are a lot more diverse than for a baby. For a baby you can get practically everything at babies R us but for older kids, of course you need more than one store! Just imagine how many stores you'll have to shop at for christmas and stuff. i don't think there's anything wrong at all. it's convenient. I think the idea of putting 2-3 in each is a good idea, but you don't need ot limit youself. You cna just put all 4 Maybe Aunt Sue who got the target card really would have loved to buy the bedding. I think it's fine. It gives people a lot of options!

Another idea is for the stores that really only have a few items, maybe just spread those by word of mouth. Tell your mom and then she can tell Aunt Sue that the bedding is at this place, etc...and then include the stores that have lots of items in the cards. That's another great idea. Word of mouth can be really good. I'm sure your mom has ideas about who might want to buy what, or ro what she wants to buy for you, so it may work out that way. I know for my wedding there area couple of pieces I can only get at lenox.com, so I put a registry there, but I only told my mom and sister about it. I figure they'll either buy me what's on there, or if someone asks they can direct them to that registry
