adoption shower registries..is this tacky?

Original post by aliciahelene

My mom and sisters are planning a shower for us. They told us to register for things we'd like just like for a baby shower. Ive read alot about adoption showers and they seem to be the same type of ettiquette as a baby shower, but my questions is this: I cant find EVRYTHING I need in one place. Not even two places..I have registries at FOUR places..I dont know what to do. Is that rude? Land of Nod has the bedding we love, Target has alot of great kids movies that I would love for the boys to have, Walmart has the sports stuff and lots of great books and Penneys has a few things as well, such as their soccer ball foof chair that I cant find anywhere else.
We dont know when our shower is, we just know it will be happening..I know the invitation will include an insert with the places we are registered at, but is having four places tacky? Each store hardly has any items, but what I found at Target, I cant find at walmart, etc. HELLPP

i dont think it's tacky - different stores are convenient for different people so it actually works in your guests' favor!

Alicia, you are too sweet - always worrying about everyone else , when you are the FURTHEST thing from greedy in this world!

I actually appreciate when people are registered in a variety of places, it makes it easier to find a store and a selection of items avaiable

So no, you are not tacky in the least!

Alicia, I don't think it's tacky at all based on the fact that you are shopping for 2 and because they are older and their needs are different!

Go for it!!!

I am happy to hear your Mom and sister will be throwing you guys a shower!!!

I don't think that it's tacky at all. Your sons are older and have different needs right now.
I think it's so sweet your mom & sister are throwing you a shower.

Not tacky at all! Like everyone has said, older children, different needs. Think about all of the brides who have registered at two or more places! From what I can see, you are the least tacky person. I also agree with the idea mrs wask had and the other member who suggested putting two different ones in each person's invite.

Good luck, G-d bless and I hope your boys come home very soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you could register at Target.... but their return policy stinks.

I posted this on BHB...it was a shower idea, called a pantry shower where the invited guests brought pantry or household items that related to their initials.

So I'm SF...I could bring strawberry jam and french dressing.

See what I'm sayin? Your guests could bring clothing, hygiene, toys/recreational things according to their initials! Then you get to guess who brought it or not!

Initial B:bedding, baseball, basketball
J: jeans
S: shirts, socks, softball, sony playstation....HA!

Not at all- especially given the fact that your boys are older - not babies- it's a totally different type of registering! This not rude or tacky!

I love you guys so much!!! I was feeling so bad and now I feel so ok with it!!! Thank you everyone!!!! Its not like we registered for alot at any one store..lots of little things...but now I feel better. I know my mom is definately making up an insert, because they were telling me to register at Old Navy and the Gap so that the boys get clothes, etc but I dont think they have registries. Its so hard..I have a good idea of their size, but its a guess.
I do one thing about the shower, its a surprise..but I know where its at! They are renting out the Ethiopian Restuarant that Dex and I went to and we loved it! So I cant waiT!!!
Thanks again..Im glad to know my resgistering at every friggin store isnt tacky!
