FH and I wanted an adult only reception .. however 85% of my OOT guests have children - my sister and dad mentioned that this will cause drama and many may not attend...
our cutoff was going to be 13yrs old... but i honestly feel like my aunt and uncles would be offended .... please advise.

Re: Adult Only Reception or Not?
I would love to have an adult only reception. However, we have a lot family that is coming from out of town and I also want them to come to the wedding. Unfortunately, many of my guests wouldn't be able to come because other family members that would be babysitting for them will be attending the wedding as well. So, we will be having some children there and i'm planning to just take it all in stride. I would rather have my family attend rather than them not attend because of babysitting. We are probably going to have about 10 kids there. We plan to set up a kids table.

If you want an Adults only Reception, I say do it! We are.
My son (4 years old) will be the only kid there, and he will most likely be leaving after an hour or two of the reception.
Kids can really add up, and we don't want them taking over the dance floor.
ITA! The only two kids at my wedding are going to be my niece and nephew. FH and I have made it clear to our families that we do not want kids at the wedding and we want an adult only reception.
If that's what you want, go for it!

Re: Adult Only Reception or Not?
I want to do an adult only reception also. My problem is the same as many of you, alot of my friends and family have children. I honstley don't think they understand how costly it is to plan a wedding. The cost pp (even though its a child) is still exspensive. Of course our daughter will be at the wedding, but I was wondering if it would be out of the norm, for us to have her leave early. I want her to share this day with us, but then I was kinda feeling bad if we arranged for her to leave after a few hours after the reception (she's only 3 years old, by the time the wedding comes, she'll be 4 yrs.) In addition my niece (who is a flower girl also, is in the wedding) will be there. Im so confused as far as what to do. Any suggestions for me???

Re: Adult Only Reception or Not?
We had a few children at our wedding. It was fine they had a blast and were not in the way at all. I had the choice to order a meal for the children or to have them eat at the cocktail hour...I left it up to the parents to decide and all but two simply ate from the cocktail hor and I did not have to pay for them!

I am having kids at my wedding but there are going to only be a few under 10 --I think about 4-5 kids.

Re: Adult Only Reception or Not?
Im having only bridal party kids, which are 7 kids. 5 flower girls & 2 ring bearers. but im having a babysitter on hand, the hotel is right next door in case they get tired. I just went to a wedding on fri night and my fsil & her husband had to leave early because the music was too loud for the kids and 'it hurt their ears' i felt bad for them, they wanted to stay but i guess the kids rule.

Re: Adult Only Reception or Not?
We are having kids. I have little cousins, FH has little cousins and nephews. We have OOT guests who have kids, so I am just inviting families. They can leave their kids home or bring them..up to them. It's an evening wedding, but I don't mind it. Again, we have to have some kids since they are really close to us, so I figured might as well let everyone bring their kids. I dont mind.

do it. Maybe you can offer a babysitter at the hotel to stay with the kiddies?

we are doing 18 and older and already have caught some heat about it..you have to draw the line somewhere, unless your budget is limitless and then in that case invite anyone! otherwise, if there's a rule people have to respect that!

Re: Adult Only Reception or Not?
The only kids invited to my wedding were my siblings. I know not a lot of people would agree with me for not including the kids but I am so glad I did it! Our almost 300 person guest list would have been close to 400 if I included kids and I think I would be living in a cardboard box right now if they all came!
