I didn't have a ring bearer or flower girl.

On the reception card, I put

Please join us for an
Adult Reception
at seven o'clock in the evening
Larkfiel Manor....

I will have some kids at the reception (mostly my cousins and BP kids), but those parents know that their kids are invited.

I'll certainly be adding the line to my invitations. I don't seen anything wrong with it. I'm not paying $100 for some 5 year old to ruin a perfectly lovely dinner...not to mention running around like little lunatics and tripping guests on the dancefloor and screaming. Ok, I know I'm mean...but definitely no kids!!

i wouldn't include this on the invite. you can address the envelopes (inner and outer) to the intended parties. if 'and children', 'family', or 'mary and bob' do not appear on the envelope then it means they (the children) are not invited.

IMO, it is very presumptuous, rude, and tacky of the guest to assume (if not stated on the invite) that children are invited to the wedding.

you could also notify guests by word of mouth. it is your choice, but i do not think it is appropriate to have 'adult only reception' included on the invite.

i NEVER said it was presumptous and rude to put adults only on the invite. i DID say it is presumptous and rude for guests to assume that they can bring their kids.

sorry for the misunderstanding.
