Yeah... well you can't say they're not trying... some people I am at the point where I want to say well I would have to pay half for your kid and I really don't feel like paying $75 for your kid to push mac n cheese (or whatever they feed kids at a wedding)around a plate and then listen to them cry during my first dance. I know, I am a terrible terrible person.

I'm with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 'adult reception' wording

We wrote out Mr. & Mrs. __________.

My mom has already warned everyone on my side that there will be no kids.

FMIL does not agree with having no kids at the wedding so she hasn't told anyone.

But if we do receive RSV with more people than specified my mom and FSIL will call everyone and let them know NO KIDS!!!

the title of my reception card will read 'Adult Reception' so there is no confusion!

Oddly enough, I was reading peggy posts wedding ettiquite and it said that adult only reception should never be writting on an invitation.

The addressing should make it clear who's invited 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' vs. 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Family.'

i couldn't agree more

I did this. 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' or 'The ______ Family'

I will tell you it didn't work.

And that is why its written on the invitation - May not adhere to 'ettiquete', but neither does a dozen and a half phone calls asking if kids are invited.

We've already gotten emails asking and only the STDs have gone out. I'm DREADING this.

I hear ya! I sent out the STDs and addressed them as Mr. and Mrs...... - and they have two kids. I did not write and family. I had to email her a question and she was like oh we can't wait for the wedding but we are worried about how our younger daughter will behave...I was like Ummmmmm....I had to email her back and be like we decided to have an Adult reception only and explained that our guest list was already sooo high and the kids would bring the count up even higher. I also explained it was a night wedding. I am worried about the invitations! I guess just addressing them without family doesn't work. We are also getting married at the RH too. Have to really figure this one out!!!!
