Adults Only?

Adults Only?

We got a wedding invitation yesterday and printed on the very bottom was 'Adults Only.'

Now, I am not having kids at my wedding either, but how do you feel about putting 'Adults Only' on the invitation?

The only place I have put it is on our wedding website and it just says there is no childcare provided at the wedding....

Since the invitations are usually address to just the couple - you would think people realize that their kids arent invited. We are only having our niece and nephews but not inviting anyones kids so i cant really put adults only.

But i know from my first wedding that i invited a divorced cousin and guest - and she brought her 11 year old daughter as her guest.

i am doing adults only by word of mouth, i personally dont like it on the invite, but maybe for ppl with BIG guests lists, word of mouth isn't an option, maybe~

I have never seen it, and wouldn't do it!

oh yeah ppl dont care, they'll bring 4 extra ppl which ive seen done ALOT...then some ppl decided to avoid that by doing reply cards that say ' we have reserved 2 seats in your honour' and ive seen girls on the board say that guests cross out the 2 and will put another number like 4 or 6 what dont these ppl understand lol

i dont like the idea of putting it on the invite- i think word of mouth is better- but i like what you did putting it on the website- i think i might steal that

I hadn't seen it before and it definitely caught my eye...

Besides word of mouth and website, is there any other polite way of letting people know it's adults only?

We have reserved 2 seats in your honour thing...MOST ppl get it but there are a few who still dont care lol but i think its the best option

Because I have family coming from out of town and I really do not want their young boys running around my wedding, we are putting at the bottom of our invitations 'Adult Reception to Follow'. Otherwise these relatives would RSVP for 2 and bring their 3 kids with them. I just feel that it is my wedding, it is an adult occasion, and the party isn't going to be over until Midnight....IMHO, I don't see a need for children to be there. But like I said that is just my opinion.

Heard people do that on their invites but I wouldn't do that at all. Not my style.

Newlywed advice:

People don't look at who the invite is addressed to and will bring their kids UNLESS you tell them not to do. We chose to put 'adult reception' on the bottom of the RVSP card and people still ignored this and that is when my parents had to gently let them know that we were not inviting kids to the wedding.

I didnt want kids at my wedding b/c most of my guests were coming from Bklyn, SI, NJ and out of state and I didn't want them driving a minimum of two hours to get to my wedding venue and then having their kids fall asleep at 10pm sprawlled out on chairs...that's sooo sad. I had an evening wedding and didn't want to see that so we decided no kids.

So moral of the story - guests will ignore the envelope and will try to invite their kids - if you don't want them there get ready to have your 'rents spread this info word of mouth of put something on the RSVP/invite and hope that they see it.

In the end I didn't have any kids at my wedding and I was sooo happy!

I would do it, but I think I'd put Adult Reception Following or something like that.

im not inviting kids either but instead of putting it on the invite im telling ppl and making it a word of mouth thing...im also putting 2 seats reserved in your honour and if ppl rsvp with more ill have to call and politely let them know
