We got a wedding invitation yesterday and printed on the very bottom was 'Adults Only.'
Now, I am not having kids at my wedding either, but how do you feel about putting 'Adults Only' on the invitation?
The only place I have put it is on our wedding website and it just says there is no childcare provided at the wedding....

Re: Adults Only?
I wouldn't put that on an invitation- I'd rather call everyone and explain it to them than write it on the invite.

Since the invitations are usually address to just the couple - you would think people realize that their kids arent invited. We are only having our niece and nephews but not inviting anyones kids so i cant really put adults only.
But i know from my first wedding that i invited a divorced cousin and guest - and she brought her 11 year old daughter.
oh yeah ppl dont care, they'll bring 4 extra ppl which ive seen done ALOT...then some ppl decided to avoid that by doing reply cards that say ' we have reserved 2 seats in your honour' and ive seen girls on the board say that guests cross out the 2 and will put another number like 4 or 6 what dont these ppl understand lol
I think thats a good idea- cept how rude is it for people to change the number!?

I STILL dont think they would get it...maybe if we wrote Mr and Mrs Smith ONLY and yes that means your kids are NOT invited as in no they cant attend the wedding so get a babysitter or leave them with relatives, and no you cant invite any other family members if we want them there we'll personally invite them and again NO kids
HAHAHA.
I wonder if that will fit on my invite

Re: Adults Only?
I think its ok to do..adults only....or adult reception to follow......im personally doing it because if i dont there will be MANY people waltzing in with their children , and yes even baby strollers, o i have to do it for my wedding because iam not having that.....i thik its not the best thing to have on an invite, but for me i have to.

thats what someone said once and it made me thing...usually adults only means things like that, so makes it sound like its a different kind of party
You can put 'adult reception' or 'adult reception to follow ceremony' instead of 'adults only'.

yeah but even just adult reception makes me think of that now lol
Like i said, were gonna do the whole 'we reserved 2 seats in your honour' anyone who replies with kids we'll call to personally apologize...FH's dad offered to be the one to call to tell his family and since most of the kids would be from FH's dads side it works out. My side if its close family(which we have no little kids) or close family friends my parents will say something and we did it for our e-party so alot of the guests know this already.

Re: Adults Only?
Im not doing it on mine. I am going to write WHO the invite it to, and knock out the 'NUMBER OF GUESTS' on the send back... this way, if for example Im inviting Ms.Apple and Mr Apple, for the return I am putting, Ms.Apple and Mr.Apple would like to reserve two seats at your wedding, will not be able to make the wedding.. something like that. I don't have it figured out yet

Re: Adults Only?
I recieved and invite that said, 'No children'
Now, I'm not inviting children either or else my guest list would jump from 250 to 350! (ok a little exaggeration) I think it is perfectly fine to add Adult Reception to the invite, as well as the RSVP card. This way there is no confusion, no phone calls and no kids showing up. It's just the wording that makes it rude.
I do like the 2 seats reserved in your honour.

Yep you def. have to call......alot of people think they can just come to places with uninvited guests...and just expect you to accept it since theyre there already.

Re: Adults Only?
Lots of people so this ... some phrase it as 'Adult Reception'
IMHO I just don't like to see that kind of stuff in PRINT.
We are having children at ours, probably about 14 kids under the age of 13. But we are not having any babies, this is being passed around via word of mouth - the more tactful way of getting the message across.
