We got a wedding invitation yesterday and printed on the very bottom was 'Adults Only.'
Now, I am not having kids at my wedding either, but how do you feel about putting 'Adults Only' on the invitation?
The only place I have put it is on our wedding website and it just says there is no childcare provided at the wedding....

Re: Adults Only?
If you are strict about not having kids then I would put 'adult reception'

Re: Adults Only?
Do you think its ok to put 'Adult Only Reception' on our website- or is that the same as putting it on the invite?

i'll have adult reception to follow. The only kids that will be there are the ones in the wedding.

Newlywed advice:
People don't look at who the invite is addressed to and will bring their kids UNLESS you tell them not to do. We chose to put 'adult reception' on the bottom of the RVSP card and people still ignored this and that is when my parents had to gently let them know that we were not inviting kids to the wedding.
I didnt want kids at my wedding b/c most of my guests were coming from Bklyn, SI, NJ and out of state and I didn't want them driving a minimum of two hours to get to my wedding venue and then having their kids fall asleep at 10pm sprawlled out on chairs...that's sooo sad. I had an evening wedding and didn't want to see that so we decided no kids.
So moral of the story - guests will ignore the envelope and will try to invite their kids - if you don't want them there get ready to have your 'rents spread this info word of mouth of put something on the RSVP/invite and hope that they see it.
In the end I didn't have any kids at my wedding and I was sooo happy!
I agree, and im going to do the same thing, my sister put adult reception on her invites as well

Re: Adults Only?
Now you got me thinking - even if i put adults only - i have plenty of cousins with adult age children. We decided we are doing first cousins only and not thier kids no matter what age. I think i just might make my RSVP with the 'number attending' line - and then have to make phone calls if people try to add more than the invitation was addressed to.
Why are people so ignorant that we have to do all this stuff?

im glad we're having my nieces and nephews - but i come from a family that doesnt believe in birth control and if we invited everyones kids - it would add another 100 to the list. We'd have to book a larger RH

i'm doing 'adult reception to follow'. If I don't then my family from Jamaica might try to get slick and try to bring the whole brood. I still know i'm going to have to make 'the call' (long distance) and let them know that only adults are invited.

i would bc i love kids but if we allow our guests to bring kids we can end up with around 50 kids, thats a bit much, plus i have to pay $90 for kids for chicken fingers and fries. FH is really against it, we went once where there were tons of kids and we couldnt hear speeches and things said bc the kids were standing by the ppl in the middle and screaming and crying over them, so we missed anything that was said

Re: Adults Only?
A lot of my first cousins are much older than me and they all have 3 or more kids. We won't put adults only on the invites because we will have our flower girl and ring bearer there. Plus 2 of FH's first cousins are younger so we won't be adults only. We are just not addressing the invite to the entire family. It will just say Mr. & Mrs. John Smith.

Do you think if we put 'Mrs and Mrs John smith ONLY' they'll get the point

I STILL dont think they would get it...maybe if we wrote Mr and Mrs Smith ONLY and yes that means your kids are NOT invited as in no they cant attend the wedding so get a babysitter or leave them with relatives, and no you cant invite any other family members if we want them there we'll personally invite them and again NO kids
