So my grandfather got the results of a CT scan today which shows he had a minor stroke (TIA) recently. He also has several ulcers which resulted in him losing 25 lbs very recently because he cannot eat. Needless to say he is not doing well. My studies have taught that these TIA's are precursors to more serious strokes. My grandmother is in HORRIBLE shape. Lost ability to walk, has only part of her jaw due to cancer. FH's grandfather is showing signs of aging as well at a rapid pace.
Now..we are considering moving the wedding up from Nov to maybe March so there is a better chance we can have our grandparents with us. We've booked our RH, Photo, Video and Band and I got my dress. Please be honest would you move the wedding up?

Re: Advice w/poll (kinda long)
Honestly, yes, I would try and move it up. Family is very important to me and I would want them to be there. Even if it meant that we lost some money.
Im very sorry to hear that theyre not doing well....

Re: Advice w/poll (kinda long)
I'm very sorry to hear about your grandparents. This a really hard question that only you and your FH can decide the answer to. I know where you are coming from, as my own father suffered a major stroke several years ago, and several other relatives are aging as well. But...in life, there are no guarantees. Just as there is the possibility that their health may deteriorate further, it is possible that it may get better or remain the same. If you really feel that you want to move your date up, by all means do so. But please do not feel guilty if you choose to keep your original date. What matters is your grandparents are here today and see that you have found your lifelong love, and that in itself is enough to make them truly happy.

Re: Advice w/poll (kinda long)
FMIL is very sick and I asked FH what he thought we should do and we decided not to move the date up. But that's us and this is something you and FH must decide.

i am very sorry to hear your situation. we are also trying to move the wedding up, for a bunch of reasons, but a big one is that we want the best chance for our grandparents to be there. if you can manage it, you should do it, not only because of your grandparents, but because who wouldnt want to get married sooner!?

Wow...so beautifully put! I too am so sorry to hear about your grandparents. It is so difficult to watch the people you love get old and especially when they are sick. I truly think it is up to the both of you. I didn't even vote. I'll be sending good, happy thoughts their way.

Re: Advice w/poll (kinda long)
I voted yes...my Nana passed away last August and it kills me she won't be here for my wedding. We were really, really close and I'm glad she got to meet FH and made it clear that she LOVED him and knew he was the one for me. I know that she will be with us in her own way......I think that something like this requires the appropriate changes. I think that the places you booked will be helpful if you tell them your situation. Lots of luck. I'll be praying for you.

Re: Advice w/poll (kinda long)
if it is doable - do it! i only have 1 of my 4 grandparents left (lucky FH has all 4) and my father passed also ...
that is the one thing I wish I could change - to have any of them there would be the best wedding gift EVER!!
