Re: afp test?
I wouldn't do it - anyway I though it was a 20 week thing - if your not over 35 there really is no reason - I was 26 when I was pregnant with my son - my levels came back positive - meaning that my son had a risk of being Downs Syndrome. Needless to say - I didnt persue the issue - I was having him regardless - I wasn't having an amnio - which was the next step - I didn't like the risk involved in that - So the next half of my pregnancy I had to have a fear that there was something wrong with my child.

Re: afp test?
I did not do it...only because I heard their were so many false positives. I would do what you feel most comfortable with

Re: afp test?
We did it because we felt that we would want to prepare ouselves mentally ahead of time. Ours came back negative so it turned out we didn't have to do any extra worrying.

Re: afp test?
We didn't do this test either. I had heard the same thing regarding the false positives and I didn't want an amnio. So we decided against it. Also, here in Ireland they don't provide the test, but will have you tested through the UK if you request it.

Re: afp test?
We had it when I was 16 weeks. I just went along with the program I guess you can say. If it's one of the usual tests they give, then we did it.

I took it. I figure I rather know that not know. That way too if there was an issue I can be prepared at birth if there were special needs.
