There's so many things I'm self-conscious about that I feel brides always look good, and I feel like I will look like crap. Am I the only person who thinks this?
I'm already upset because I wanted to get a laser procedure done because I have this annoying dark brown spot on my face from the sun and birth control so that it'd be gone by wedding day, but I don't think they're going to be able to do anything about it, and I will just feel so self-conscious. I just feel like it's so important for the bride to look gorgeous that day.

Re: Afraid I'm Not Going To Be A Beautiful Bride
i know how you feel. I know that peopel say you look good if you are happy & confident, but I feel liek I can't be confident untill a few things are taken care of, but I'm not sure if they can be or if that will be enough. What if I find other things to be insecure about. Right now teeth is a big one for me. I haven't had time to look into it, but i want to get cleaning & see what the dentist says about whitening.
I also have facial hair issues. and skin problems. minor, but no way to control when it acts up.
I'm also self concious about my many chins. I don't look too fat in my dress (a least in the sample, but it wasn't zipped), but my face shows the weight a lot.
I think I need to fix what bothers me most & is easiest (teeth) so I can feel more confident, and then get a good make up artist. and hopefully that will make me feel good enough that I will look good.

Oh yeah, my teeth aren't the best either. I don't know how I'm going to do with pictures because I don't like to smile with my teeth showing because I just don't have a full toothy looking smile. I thought porcelain veneers would help, but my dentist said she doesn't think I need it, and if I should do anything, whitening would be good to do.
Thanks for everyone's positive replies. I needed it.

Aww, I just wanna hug you
There is NOONE who is more self-critical in the world than I can be about my looks - trust me, I'm nuts.
But to reiterate what everyone else said, you are going to look beautiful on your wedding day, despite the so-called 'flaws' you see in yourself.
Why? Because you are doing something that transcends outwardly beauty .. you are committing yourself (in front of your loved ones) to your FH in marriage! And there is no bride in the world who could look 'ugly' doing something as meaningful as that is!
Your FH fell in love with you and asked you to marry him for a reason - trust in that, and you'll look fantastic come wedding day!

Re: Afraid I'm Not Going To Be A Beautiful Bride
I'm sorry you feel this way. I know what you mean though. In the past 4-5 years I've gained about 100 pounds (we found out it's hormonal and I have to take pills to counteract it) and I look totally different than I used to. I've been trying to lose the weight but it doesn't seem to be happening fast enough. Every time I put the dress on (and when I was trying on dresses) I would say to my mom that I look like 'a giant marshmallow' and I always say that I'm going to be the ugliest bride. We can't think that way though- I'm sure our inner beauty will shine through and we'll look WONDERFUL!! KEep your chin up. All that matters is that you and youR FH are getting MARRIED!!!!!!

I must admit I too feel the same way you do, I have such a fear and the nightmares are getting worse as the wedding gets closer that I'm going to look ugly. But then I read a post like feliciaDA and it makes me realize what is really important. My fi loves me and wants to marry me. I'm sure the last thing I will be thinking about on that day is if I look ugly.

Don't worry about it - enjoy your day. You are going to be beautiful. As a matter of fact, I went to a wedding last weekend and the bride on her right side of her face had a pretty big brown spot/birthmark. Honestly you couldnt even see it and even though you knew it was there you were not looking for it. That is the beauty of make up. Don't let it get to you.

You will be beautiful!! The only ugly bride I have ever seen was my FSIL. Why? Because she didn't put any effort into herself or her wedding. She was doing it for a show to beat me down the aisle. And, she is more interested in her husband's money then his love. You and your FH are in love and that is the most beautiful thing there is!!

Re: Afraid I'm Not Going To Be A Beautiful Bride
Think about every wedding you've been to... remember how the bride was just glowing? It has nothing to do with the make-up, the hair, or even the dress (god forbid)... you will be so elated and happy that you will be glowing... and of course, every girl who is glowing is always beautiful!

You will be a beautiful bride.. stop being silly!!! and don't worry about that spot.. if it doesn't go away, you can use make up to cover it up..

Re: Afraid I'm Not Going To Be A Beautiful Bride
I can understand how you feel. I gained about 50 lbs since Jan 2002. I wasn't small to begin with, but I was average weight. And I get alot of acne sometimes and the scars stay.....it's all medicinal related but I cannot stop the meds or I get sick (I have intestinal problems). But what the girls here have said is ALL true - even though sometimes I don't feel like I'm a georgeous bride all the time I know that once I put on that dress and have my hair done up and the veil on, even over and above all that, when I walk up the aisle and see FH smiling at me I will know that I am beautiful. And you are too
As for the brown spot, if you can and want to, you can see a dermatologist..maybe it will help you a bit with your confidence. But seriously, spot or not your FH loves you and thinks you're beautiful inside and out.

Every bride looks beautiful on her wedding day, even with a full beard! I know how you feel because I still can't try on my dress because I gained so much weight since I bought it. But as cheesy as it sounds I really think that your wedding day is all about the beauty and love you feel inside coming to the surface. I've been to a lot of bad weddings, and while I have seen a lot of ugly dresses and cheesy receptions I have NEVER seen an ugly bride. You will be more beautiful than you ever imagined!
And I know someone who is amazing with lasers if that silly spot is really a burden!
I think that every bride with look beautiful for there wedding day.

Re: Afraid I'm Not Going To Be A Beautiful Bride
Physically, I am sure you will look gorgeous But that is not what makes a bride beautiful. The beautiful glow you will emit from it being one of the happiest days of your life is what makes you extra beautiful on your wedding day.
